Those of us who go back "aways," as they say, clearly remember the excited buzz over these Dan Wesson revolvers: they were known to be very well built and very accurate revolvers. They had a number of, then, new and unique features: they had replaceable barrels, of course, and that was their most notable difference between them and the S&W's and Colts. In addition, there were a couple of other differences: the cylinder release is in the front, rather than the back, of the frame, as the S&W's and Colts had. Some models, like this one, also had a trigger stop for over-travel which helped in target shooting. There were, also, a number of grip choices available. This one, being meant for carry, has a very comfortable and ample rounded grip which fills the hand nicely. Originally, a buyer could get a complete kit: the frame itself plus several barrels in various lengths along with the tool to change the barrels and the feeler gauge to adjust the barrel gap. The idea was that with one gun, the owner could change out barrels to everything from target shooting to self-defense carry. The tool and the barrels are still available on Gunbroker so it's possible to replicate the original intention of the manufacturer. This particular gun has just a bit of faint finish wear around the muzzle and on the cylinder, no double from holster carry. However, the revolver shows very little wear otherwise. I doubt that it's had much more than a box of shells put through it. These revolvers were a bit pricey when new, but now they can be had very reasonably.
