It began with a Soviet invasion of Finland on 30 November 1939. The conflict began after the Soviets sought to obtain Finnish territory. The Finns helped by extreme winter weather inflected heavy losses on the Soviet Army. The Finns caputured many Soviet arms including thousands of Russian M91/30 rifles. This 1939 dated M91/30 rifle has the Finnish SA property mark and most likely was a battle field pick up in the Winter War or perhaps the later Continuation War with the Soviets. Rifles like this one were put back into service against the Soviets. As the photos show it is a combat veteran. The bolt and receiver match, but other parts such as magazine, butt plate etc have been replaced which is common for such guns. The stock's wood splice separated at one time and under went a field repair. The bore shows shine with good lands. There is a very hard to read import mark on the side of the barrel near he muzzle. Rifle is not counter bored. This Finn 91/30 is coming from a collection. Rifle was purchased in early 2001 never fired and put into the collection.
