Here is a very nice, little-used .357 Distinguished Service Magnum from the early days of the Reagan Era. Serial number prefix is AAD, and the model number has no suffix, so this blue 4 inch 581 was manufactured in 1981, President Reagan's Inaugural Year and the first year of production for the L-Frame. This is a very attractive revolver with only moderate holster wear. Front underside of the frame, and center area of the trigger guard show light white spotting from holster contact in a similar holster shown in the photo. Sides of muzzle and cylinder surfaces show moderate wear, and there is moderate whitening here and there on its surfaces. Original color casehardening to the .265 smooth combat trigger and .375 cleated hammer is close to full strength, with about 15 percent etchy residue on the left side of the hammer. Right grip panel shows more scouring than its left hand mate, normal for a service revolver. Despite the white areas we have pointed out in our text and photos, this revolver is still very attractive and clean. We rate it as Very Good, since we estimate that 80 percent of its original finish is unaffected by wear; but photos should suffice for interested parties to judge finish grade for themselves. This 581 is Excellent mechanically. Blast effect to the under side of the frame topstrap directly above the forcing cone only amounts to slight shallow creasing that traverses no more than 2/3 of the width of the topstrap. Lateral play or wobble effect to the cylinder is minimal with the trigger relaxed and negligible with the trigger pulled. The letter M inside the yoke area of the frame indicates that the firing pin bushing was modified correctly in the early 1990s. Bore and cylinder chambers are clean and Excellent. Double action trigger pull is exceptionally light and smooth, and the hammer travels an additional 15 degrees or so after the cylinder times into place on all six positions in double action. On single action, the hammer travels 25 degrees after the cylinder times on all six. Single action trigger pull is a crisp 4 3/8 pounds. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is above average .010. This is a very nice, moderately used Department 581, and we are including a period appropriate North Carolina Dept. of Corrections Left Hand G&G Security Duty holster since blue boxes are so scarce. Own this fine Distinguished Service Magnum for only $ 439.95 Not transferable to civilians in California, Chicago, D.C., Massachusetts, or NYC.

Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
