If you look at this gun closely, you will see that it is nearly identicle to the 1911 Officer's Model with the exception that the grips and magazine are shorter than the conventional Officer's Model. We have been told that Stocklin, with Colt's permission, developed this mini-1911 and marketed it as a "Stocklin Improved Government Model Pocket Auto". This is what the role stamp says on the right hand side of the receiver just above the Ivory Grip and Serial #. This gun is a 1919 Commercial Model that is dated with Silver Inlays, 1931 (See Photos). This is not some back room put together, but is a well thought out and engineered project that was most likely funded by Colt back during the depression years and then shelved. The gun is 7&1/4"'s Overall with a 3&3/4" Barrel, Magazine and Grip Area. Very similar to the Officer's model ACP introduced in 1985. Gun is totally functional. Ivory Grips, what appears to be Silver Inlays (of which some are lacking some Silver), Jeweled Barrel, Hammer, Trigger, Magazine and portion of the Grip Safety. This is a Pretty neat Old 1911. This is possibly a prototype but have no way of documentating that and really do not know how many of these were ever produced. We would say it is a rather Unique and Collectible 1911 45.
