Weighing in at about 8 ¼ lbs, this semi-auto shotgun's 3" chambered 28" barrel uses the RemChoke system and is expertly finished in a rich, dark blue-black, low-glare matte finish which matches the all-steel receiver. The nickel-plated bolt and gold-plated trigger add a touch of class and accent the matte satin of the metal work. All other controls are blued, including the cocking handle, cross bolt safety, conventionally positioned behind the trigger, and the action release lever, located in the loading port on the underside of the receiver in front of the trigger. The action is gas operated with ejection to the right. The gas system is self-compensating, which allows the 11-87 to reliably cycle rounds from light 2 ¾" target loads up to 3" Magnum loads without any shooter adjustments. The vented, 5/16" wide top rib has a white bead frount sight and silver mid bead, and is patterned to reduce glare. This shotgun features a classic, satin finished American walnut stock and fore-end that are enhanced with traditional Remington checkering in a fleur-de-lys pattern on the wrist and foreend. The butt is capped with an inch-thick Remington recoil pad highlighted with a black spacer. One Remington Modified and one PFChokes Improved Cylinder choke tube plus wrench are included, along with an unopened package of Uncle Mikes QD sling swivel screws. Remington put a lot of design effort and craftsmanship into this model to build a gun that is both attractive and entirely functional.
Overall condition of this gun is Excellent although it has clearly been previously fired -- about 99+% overall. Exterior finish condition is essentially 100% and is remarkably free of handling marks and blemishes. None were noted on this gun. Traded to make room in a growing collection by its original owner, who purchased it new at the end of 2012 and fired only a few boxes of target ammo through it on the skeet range, this shotgun is immaculate, bearing witness to the low mileage claim.
