The Galesi .25 Automatic pistols were in the top twenty of their caliber during the years leading up to the 1968 Gun Control Act. GCA 68, of course, stopped their importation dead in its tracks. FIE, Firearms Import and Export Company, began running cheaper copies of the Galesi 503 in 1974, from our records, a run that was brief. This specimen of the Guardian Pistol comes to us from a New England Collection. From its 700000 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1976. Manufacturer was FIE Corp of Miami. Construction is two piece barrel with steel main body; steel slide and internal parts, assembled into a zinc alloy / zamak or pot metal frame and barrel collar. Chambering is .25 ACP caliber. Barrel length is 2 1/4 inches, 6 groove right hand 1:16 rifling. Slide has serrated laterals at the rear, and does not lock open. Sights are simply a flat rib with no notch or blade. Weight empty is 12 ounces, with center of gravity at the grip frame front strap. Overall length is 4 5/8 inches, with 3 3/8 inch height; and slide thickness of .755 inch. Grips are factory black polymer. Surface detractions on this speciment are extensive, principally moderate surface pitting on the slide and barrel, and scouring on the frame. We rate this Model 503 as only Fair, 30 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore shows 30 percent etchy texture, mechanism appears to have substantial corrosion. We’re offering the FIE Galesi copy in the photos for only $ 39.00.
