Nikko thought they could rebrand the Mark XXII to a Golden Eagle until they ran into patent problems with Weatherby. Nikko was already making the Mark XXII in their Japanese factory, and had all the tooling in place. This gun is a prototype of the rebranded gun, fully functional and mechanically identical to the Mark XXII. Semi-auto or "select single" shot, clip feed with one 10 round clip (interchangeable with Weatherby clip). 24" barrel, ramped brass front sight bead, "triple folding" rear open sight, jeweled bolt, tang safety. Monte Carlo stock with cheekpiece, skipline checkering, brown Pachmayr 1/2" thick pad to 13 11/16" LOP, sling swivels, genuine ivory grip cap with "B G" initials (Barry Galloway was the financial controller of Golden Eagle Firearms in Houston, TX).
