Now Dems Are Coming for ‘Hi-Cap’ Mags, Online Ammo Sales, Rifle Purchasers

Rep. Elizabeth Esty (D-CT) believes that no one needs thirty rounds to kill a deer.  (Photo: Facebook)

A tragedy like the one in Las Vegas is viewed by Dems in Washington as nothing more than an opportunity. An opportunity to take a swing at the Second Amendment.

You shouldn’t be surprised by this. It’s the same old song and dance.

We’ve already seen Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) introduce the “Automatic Gun Fire Prevention Act,” legislation to ban bump stocks and trigger cranks.

Even though Feinstein freely admitted in a CBS interview that no law would’ve stopped the gunman because “He passed background checks registering for handguns and other weapons on multiple occasions.”

Now we’re seeing other gun control legislation pop up in both Houses, including bills to ban online ammo sales and “high-capacity” magazines and a bill to require FFLs to report gun buyers to authorities if they purchase more than two rifles in a five-day period.

“There is simply no good reason why sportsmen and women need more than ten rounds in a magazine,” said Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty (D-CT). “No sportsman or woman needs thirty rounds to kill a deer. It’s shameful that we protect our deer better than we protect our people.”

Esty’s bill is ironically titled, “Keep Americans Safe Act.” Right. Because you will be safer when you have fewer rounds to defend yourself. Love that logic. Love how Esty believes the 2A is about deer hunting.

The Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act is one step in the right direction to slowing the proliferation of guns and ammunition,” said Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ), pitching her bill to end Internet ammo sales.

“Americans did not send us to Washington to mourn them when it is our job to do everything we can as federal legislators to protect them,” Coleman added.

Again, Coleman wants to protect us by making it harder for us to purchase ammunition.  Are we seeing a trend here? It’s doublethink! The government is telling us: You are more safe when you are less free to defend yourself.

Then there’s the Multiple Firearm Sales Reporting Modernization Act.  Utter insanity.  It would require gun dealers to report the sale of two or more long guns within a five-day period.

“This bill is a long-overdue update,” said Congresswoman Norma Torres (D-CA). “Our law enforcement agencies need to know if anyone is stocking up on AR-15s and AK-47s.

“The multiple sales reporting provision that is already on the books has helped our law enforcement go after handgun trafficking rings across the country,” she continued. “There is simply no reason why we should exempt semi-automatic rifles from that provision.”

Great. Let’s expand a policy that creates a database of gun purchasers.  No issues there, right?  We want the government looking over our shoulder, tracking what we buy and when we buy it. I mean, how else is it going to know where all the guns are when it comes time disarm America?

Our GOP-controlled Congress hopefully has enough sense to shoot down these bills one by one.  They’ve done so in previous years with similar legislation restricting mags and prohibiting ammo sales.  We’ll have to wait and see though.

The second amendment is about keeping the government in check which is why they want to disarm us and thirty round mags are exactly what you need to do job if ever the need were to arise.i will not comply!

  • Cappy July 21, 2019, 5:55 pm

When are our lying Congressmen and women going to understand; that our 2nd amendment “IS NOT ABOUT HUNTING!”

  • Rich October 29, 2017, 9:13 pm

You only see Esty in the news when it comes to gun issues. With all the problems various we have in the state of Connecticut we never see her and her fellow libertards facing these problems. BTW it was her fellow democrat cronies who put us in the financial mess were in. Get your priorities straight Esty !!!

  • Christopher Hardman October 23, 2017, 6:14 pm

If the interest is in saving lives like the hundreds that are killed every year with high capacity magazines, then why not an outcry on limiting vehicle speed to 65 mph? I don’t mean speed limit signs and tickets, I mean physically dis-enabling vehicles from going more than 65 mph. We are talking about tens of thousands of people killed, not hundreds. By the way, a drivers license is a privilege, not a right like the Second Amendment.
I’m sure that would be considered absurd by the left but their idea on gun control isn’t?

  • Leighton Cavendish October 22, 2017, 10:47 am

Maybe this is why women were originally not given the right to vote or run for office here in the USA. Just sayin’… .
But when it comes to 2,000+ abortions every DAY?
Imagine if we found those “cells” on any other celestial body…it would be the greatest scientific discovery in all of history…life on another planet. Think about it for a second.
I am pro 2A and pro-choice, BTW. Just hate the hypocrites out there on BOTH sides.

  • watchman48 October 21, 2017, 2:04 pm

If you consider life so precious than let’s ban abortion, which kills over one million babies a year…

    • Leighton Cavendish October 22, 2017, 10:31 am

      Yeah..they don’t want to hear that…
I am pro 2A and pro-choice…but against abortion purely as birth control
But there was at least one study that linked the drop in crime to legalized abortion, so there is THAT to consider.

  • Sepp W October 21, 2017, 8:56 am

More left “gun control” rhetoric based of made-up facts, faux statistics, and appeal to emotions instead of addressing what makes people kill other people.

  • James Payne October 20, 2017, 8:25 pm

Well, if the “Sporting Clause” or whatever the hell that alphabet soup communist organization called the ATF likes to use to circumvent the Bill of Rights is allowed to continue, then sooner or later, they’ll figure out a way to “regulate” us out of our rights. What we really need President Trump to do is hold to his promise to Mr. and Mrs American Citizen and do us a solid by abolishing the ATF and regulating the rest of the national law enforcement agencies into tackling the real criminals out there instead of attempting to re-classify a whole group of law abiding citizens (gun owners) into a bunch of whacko felons.

While I’m on the subject, what the hell happened to the N.R.A. that I joined 20 years ago? Who the hell authorized Wayne Lapierre to publicly denounce the bump fire stock? Hell, they’re going in the wrong direction. I want my NRA to be championing the abolishment of all Federal Firearms regulations. I want to go into my local gun store and buy an AR with a safety that has 3 positions instead of two and I don’t want to pay 25,000 for it or have to have a special license to do so. My United States citizenship is qualification enough to buy any firearm made on this planet and any Firearm Rights Organization that doesn’t support that goal is no longer representing me and dare I say it, the vast majority of the active firearm enthusiasts. It’s a fight that will never end folks, but right now while we have a chance, we need to push as hard as we can to tip the scales as far in our favor as possible, you never know when the enemy will get another favorable political position and will seek to do the same.

  • Mont Schroeder October 20, 2017, 7:59 pm

Why dont the donkeycrats ban cars and black painted assault muscle cars? They kill 100,000 people a year, plus ban tobacco which kills another 75,000 people a year! Where’s the donkeycrat outcry on these 2 killers????????

    • Leighton Cavendish October 22, 2017, 10:32 am

Actually there are about 35,000 deaths due to vehicle crashes a year…and about HALF are due to not wearing a seat belt. Go figure.

      • Christopher Hardman October 23, 2017, 6:21 pm

They are not due to not wearing a seat belts, they are due to the violent acceleration forces as a result of speed. This is why you can die with or without seatbelts. Your logic is the same logic that guns kill people.

  • Hugo October 20, 2017, 6:28 pm

The blood wasn’t cold yet in Vegas before these foul creatures started their partisan nonsense. They don’t give a damn about the victims. They all want to be known as the one who found a chink in the NRA armor and started the slide towards disarming everyone. My response was to buy an AR15, a bunch of 30 round mags and a case of ammo. I am saving all the money I would have wasted on the NFL and putting it towards my gun collection. Bite me, liberal bitches!

    • Just a guy October 26, 2017, 1:14 pm

I’m in the process of building a .300 Blackout AR-15 as well. With supersonic 125 grain rounds the .300 Blackout rifle using a 16 inch barrel is pretty effective to about 250 yards.

With the AR-15 you now have the choice of three great rifle cartridges: 6.5 x 39 Grendel, 6.8 x 43 Special Purpose Cartridge and .300 Blackout. There are also other rifle rounds available.

      • Wayne January 18, 2019, 4:28 pm

Well that was random. We’re here commenting on our rights being infringed and your here talking about your ar build.

  • Douglas White October 20, 2017, 6:22 pm

Thats what all these shootings are all about. If you think the dems are worried about a few dozen deaths around the country, think again because they are not. There behind all this,I am sure.

  • Guido October 20, 2017, 6:20 pm

Seems the same grotesque-looking libtard women who know nothing about what they speak, show up with the same ol\’ drivel…..Does this actually qualify as news to anybody?

Democrates… stand in line give up your guns.the criminal element sure wont!!
      Dumb asses!!

  • Archangel October 20, 2017, 5:40 pm

Rep. Elizabeth Esty (D-CT) believes that no one needs thirty rounds to kill a deer?
When will they ever admit it’s not about hunting?
The 30 round magazine and the semiautomatic rifle is not intended to kill deer, but to kill people like her should she decide to violate the constitution and oppress us!
The 30 round magazine is to help ensure our freedom from those in power if they choose to take advantage of that power!
If the police and military have it, then we should have access to it so we can, depending on the circumstances, either support them in case of invasion, or if needed, defend ourselves against them should they choose to oppress!

Ask anyone who survived the Holocaust if they could go back in time and shoot some SS officers would they!

  • FirstStateMark October 20, 2017, 5:16 pm

These freaking DEMs will not be happy until EVERY GUN is taken away from gun owners. They blame the guns. I guess it’s the forks fault for fat ass, or the pencil for all your misspelled words.

  • Patrick McWilliams October 20, 2017, 4:14 pm

Owning a car is a right. Driving is a right. And both ARE under attack. Just look at the mass of EPA regulations having as their ultimate design to make cars more expensive and difficult to maintain, especially for the lower income and middle class peasants. Cars are the tools of freedom, the same as guns, and both are despised by the leftists for the same reason. One term. No pension. Provision for recall at any time. No permanent Civil Service. When you vote out the office holder, you vote out the bureaucracy as well. Makes the whole swamp accountable.

    • JAMES A BEAN October 20, 2017, 10:09 pm

Owning a car is a right. Driving a car is NOT. However, back on topic ALL gun owners know these laws are BS and should resist
by voting out all Demos and turncoat Repubs who sponsor such knee jerk reaction fixes. These people are not the leadership material required to lead this nation.

    • Leighton Cavendish October 22, 2017, 10:33 am

Owning a car is NOT a right…neither is driving one…sorry.

    • Christopher Hardman October 23, 2017, 6:25 pm

I agree with what you are trying to say, but I must correct you that a drivers license is exactly that, a license. It is a “privilege”. Gun ownership is an actual right as is life , liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

  • Lee Lawley October 20, 2017, 2:46 pm

Who the Flip are you to tell me how to button my pants? I will buy as many weapons and ammo as i prefer to have. None of “YOUR” business.

  • M.D.Lafferty October 20, 2017, 2:42 pm

She is right. No hunter needs 30 rounds unless his camp is attacked by a pack of starving wolves. But the starving wolf comparison is exactly why you and I should be able to have 30 rounds or more if we want. The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting. It has to do with citizens being fire power equal to their Government should it become an abusive Government. The founding fathers sadly had no time machine that they could use to discover automatic weapons so they were content to secure the right of every citizen to have the same weapons that the Army of the time had. Now it’s illegal for most Americans to have the same type of weapons our current Army has as in machine guns so we are already at a great disadvantage if our Government ever turns against us, our advantage is shear numbers of people with guns of all kinds. No you don’t need 30 rounds to hunt anything but if Uncle Sam ever turns on us you will need a lot more then that to defend yourself, your family and your rights.

    • Dustin Eward October 20, 2017, 3:52 pm

“if our Government ever turns against us”

The fact that we are having this conversation means it already has.

      If? You mean when.

And when is about 70 years ago…

    • Frank October 20, 2017, 7:58 pm

First gun I bought within a week of Obama getting elected in 2008 was a Barrett M107A, and then lots of API rounds… for hunting, of course.

  • Norm Fishler October 20, 2017, 2:25 pm

Since when does a 30 round magazine have anything to do with hunting? “shall not be infringed” does not have a thing to do with deer or duck hunting. These wanna-be tyrants will not be happy until a disarmed and servile populous kneels at their feet, licking their boots.

  • Me October 20, 2017, 2:22 pm

Deer are better protected than people?!?! It’s illegal to kill a human anytime, anywhere. Not true for deer.

    • Christopher Hardman October 23, 2017, 6:29 pm

Ummm. Before you make blanket statements like that, you should check the law books. There are many occasions when killing another human being is perfectly legal.

  • Bushmaster October 20, 2017, 2:02 pm

Elizabeth, As an avid hunter, I agree, no one needs 30 rounds to kill a deer. If they do, they don’t belong in the woods. These type of people are “SOUND SHOOTERS” who hear a sound and spray the area with bullets! Fortunately these type are very few and far between and the other hunters correct them immediately. NOW, defending your home is something different. Look at our great police departments after shoot outs with 20, 30, 50, 70 plus rounds, a lot of time the bad guy doesn’t even get hit or killed. The adrenalin pumps, the heart beats wildly, people are scared out of their minds. WELL AIMED SHOTS, that should be are not. I have been in dozens and dozens and dozens of armed confrontations. Most people unless well trained usually miss for the first six rounds or so. If you have multiple people breaking into your house, because you are not as proficient as the police, you NEED LARGE CAPACITY MAGAZINES. HAVING TO STOP AND RELOAD WITH 10 ROUND MAGAZINES ALLOWS THE BAD GUYS TO RUSH YOU FROM TWO OR THREE POSITIONS AND DISARM YOU. THEN YOU ARE RAPED, TORTURED, BEATEN TO DEATH OR DEAD. Those of you that never have been put in a position of one or more to multiple attackers need to take a minute and think about a wife alone, and some with children alone and reconsider your position. Take away the large capacity magazines and you are responsible for getting someone killed.

  • Mike H. October 20, 2017, 1:54 pm

I think we should have an ugliest anti-gun BITCH contest! Who would win? Clinton,Feinstein, or Esty?

    • Roger Mitchell October 23, 2017, 8:18 pm

ban abortion and save more lives then shootings, cars, drugs and all other types of mayhem. Also try making life harder on criminals instead of law abiding citizens. TRY IT AND SEE IF IT WORKS,BECAUSE ITS NOT DOING A THING MAKING IT HARDER ON THE REST OF US. MIKE IN ANSWER TO YOUR UGLY CONTEST IT WOULD BE BETWEEN FEINSTEIN AND CLINTON WITH FEINSTEIN HAVING THE EDGE. BY THE WAY SHE HAS A GUN PERMIT.

Keep this FACT in mind folks, IF many of the members of Congress, especially Demoncrats were ‘profiled’ by the FBI, they would be labeled as PSYCHOPATHS!
Statements like the ones made recently by many of them bear this out!

  • DAVA GOLINO October 20, 2017, 1:09 pm

the EU is behind every weapons ban by people world wide. look what is happening to the farmers in South Africa. they were not allowed to renew gun licenses, then had they guns taken. they are being slaughtered daily and their property taken. notice THE EU puppet, the UN does nothing the EU is responsible for the radical Islamic invasion of all western nations, with so called refugees and illegal immigrates. The EU is the agenda behind the universal background check and mandatory gun registration.. America needs to wake up and rid our government of politicians and law makers that support this Eu agenda. the EU wants all people made stupid with Marxist brainwashing, doped up, and disarmed. The NRA needs to more involved with supporting the Visegrad group, as they are the only nations opposing the EU.

    • Michael Smith October 20, 2017, 2:42 pm

@ Dava this is Agenda 21/30 our brave new world. Gee isn’t it great?(NOT)

  • Walter Knight October 20, 2017, 1:02 pm

The citizens right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

I do not need thirty rounds to kill a deer. Well that is a true statement but it fails to justify infringement of my right to bear arms. Maybe shooting a weapon with high campacity magazines is just plain fun. I am not restricted to use firearms only to kill dear.

Have you ever heard about a group of evil men kicking in the door of someone else’s home. They call it home invasion and the end results are all to often the death of everyone who was in the house. Where there is no time to call 911. Let’s say five such evil men bust into your house. The police will not arrive in time to save your life. So you have armed yourself with a firearm. I guarantee you will need more then five rounds, also nobody can say how many rounds you might need. Maybe you need 20 are more. Having the right to defend your life and your families life is fundamental to the 2nd Admendment. Nobody in the United States is required to just stand there like a sheep before wolves waiting to die. However, that is the goal of these Democrats to deny you the right to self defense. How well you succeed or if you fail is your responsibility. Training and preparations is an individuals responsibility.

Now if these Democrats are truly interested in saving lives well a cure for cancer would be good. They could do away with all automobiles. More people die in traffic accidents each year and possession of automobiles is not a protected right.

The Democrats ultimate goal is gun confiscation. However, they know they have to take things one step at a time.

Democrats love to attack the NRA, however no member of the NRA has ever been the shooter in a mass murder. Those shooters have almost exclusively been Democrats.

My God bless all of our members in Congress as they go about the work of this great country.

    • Lee Lawley October 20, 2017, 2:48 pm

I agree and could not have said it any better Walter Knight. Thank you for your input.

    • Ricky D. October 20, 2017, 3:36 pm

You are right Walter, I just wish every American would take the time to read the 2A. Then I wish they would read some of the comments that our forefathers made about why they added that amendment. They knew that in the future that there may come a day when our government would get too large or too controlling. And the people just might have to take back OUR government .They knew that men of good concience wish to live free, and that if that time came (and it will) that we would have to match the firepower of the oppressors. No good man wants to kill anyone. Owning arms is a God given right. We all deserve to have the right to protect ourselves, loved ones and fellow countrymen. After all ,had the British taken our guns to begin with there would be no USA.

  • Ward Dorrity October 20, 2017, 1:02 pm

The surest way to avoid truly massive amounts of “gun violence” is to not even think about coming for ours.

    • Christopher Hardman October 23, 2017, 6:31 pm

      LIKE!!

  • James Beattie October 20, 2017, 12:53 pm

I ‘m a liberal gun nut who owns an AR-15, and i can’t really say that I NEED 30 rounds clips, but they sure are convenient and I feel better having more fire power in the event there’s a coup in America and some tyrant like Trump takes over and imposes some kind of martial law. (Would any of us put it past that psycho-nazi) So i guess I really want (or need) the firepower to defend my home against the government or the authorities. Maybe we all do.

    • jonahex October 22, 2017, 6:38 am

@James Beattie, you are a lying offspring of a dog, to say ‘clip’ and to say ‘Trump.’ means you are a liar of the first deamoncrap order ,so quit trying to fool those of us who recognize those of your subhuman species, now go lie down by your dish, under the porch, and see if your mother can get back to you to feed you after chasing cars, and trying her best to bring you back another kindred worthless whelp in her diseased womb to see if there can be another generation of your ilk to try and besmirch the bill of rights, and the constitution, and the setting President.

  • Reverend James October 20, 2017, 12:51 pm

I was attacked by four very large thugs on my own property who intended to beat me to death. (This was during the first Watts riot and this was being done by groups of rioters.) If they killed me, then they had unlocked entry into my house where my wife and two teenage daughters were present. They would have then raped them and probably killed them to. These criminal are cowards, so they run in packs. I stopped them and they ran when they saw my gun. I was three seconds from shooting the first. Due to their size, multiples shots would have been necessary to stop each one of them. The response taught by my local police’s SWAT team is two shots to the body, and then one to the head + many missed shots. So, 3 X 4 = 12 shots in perfect shooting, and several more for each person for misses. So, 10 shots only will handle two out of the four thugs so with a 10 round magazine, my family and I would have been dead. I carry all the time a handgun with a 17 round magazine, and at times that might be barely enough. You are totally ignorant, so go take a class from your local SWAT team and they will tell you that 10 shots is often not enough – and that you can die from a shortage of enough ammunition.

  • Dave October 20, 2017, 12:20 pm

Occasionally I have to drive my 85 year old widowed mother to the local food pantry. And EVERY time I take her there, I see a LOT of MORBIDLY OBESE people standing in line to get FREE food. Yet nobody is there protesting these FAT people being given high CARB, and high calorie JUNK FOOD, which allows them to become even FATTER. Nobody is there handing out pamphlets on the dangers of type two diabetes, or heart disease. The cost to taxpayers for hospital and doctor visits, when they do develop these health issues is ENORMOUS. And still NOBODY says or does a thing about it.
Yet these same LIBERALS, who don’t worry about the OVERLOADED guts of food pantry parasites, want to keep YOU from having an OVERLOADED rifle magazine. There is something fundamentally WRONG with a society that says it’s OK to kill you with FOOD, but it’s not OK for it’s citizens to defend themselves, (with lethal force) against violent home invaders, maniacs or terrorists — with adequate supplies of ammunition and the magazines to use it.

    • Tommy Barrios October 20, 2017, 1:01 pm

      F-iNG DITTO!

    • Norm Fishler October 20, 2017, 2:28 pm

      Outstanding! Thanx for your perspective.

  • Dennis M October 20, 2017, 12:04 pm

The 2nd Amendment is NOT about hunting deer (your shotgun better not be capable of holding more than 3 rounds when hunting in Texas). It IS about defending your family, your neighbors, your rights.
That being said, which law requires criminals to only have magazines with fewer than 10 rounds when they mug a person, rob a bank or store, or just want bragging rights with their gang? Don’t take away my right to have a gun with a standard capacity of 17 (put in your own number) when you do nothing to take away the criminal’s weapons (which, by the way, will never happen).

  • SANDMAN October 20, 2017, 11:56 am

Is there, or has there ever a gun ban , gun control,or confiscation bill that the DUMB-O-CRATS were not in love with?
We don’t need 30 round mags to hunt deer–maybe Fish and Game in each state could require us to have a mag that only holds 4 or 5 rounds while HUNTING DEER if it was legal to hunt deer with an AR-15 in 5.56 or 2.23 but since it is not legal to hunt deer with a .22 cal ammo then their argument is beyond lame.
Feinstein even admits nothing would have stopped this guy since he passed all the background checks. But did anyone keep an eye on him after he spent time in the Philippines and sent 100K there–do they know where that money went–hell no. Instead they want to control “WE THE PEOPLE” the people who pay their wages and in some case elected them.
It time for term limits drastic pay cuts, no more lifetime retirement pay at 100% adjusted annually.
    Like President Trump—“DRAIN THE SWAMP”
Now–hog hunting on the other hand should REQUIRE a hunter to have a 30 round magazine because they are not a native spice, they are reeeeeeal fast, they need to be eliminated from our country because of the damage they do and you need all the help you can get when hunting them.
We have waaaaaaaaaay more gun laws on the books and most don’t work–look at Chicago–more laws than most city have and more murders –is it because black are killing blacks at an alarming rate and the Illinois potations don’t care and just hope they will just kill each other till they are all gone. Makes an intelligent person wonder and say–HMMMMMMMMM.
The part you don’t hear about the unfortunate Vegas shooting is—MACHINE GUNS ARE LEGAL TO OWN THER–pay the fee and pass the Class 1 background check and instead of spending over 100K on a bunch of guns this psycho could have purchased an M-60 machine gun for 50 to 60K and linked up thousands of rounds of ammo and probably killed and wounded way more than he did.
Than God he wasn’t that smart.
Don’t get me wrong–I don’t like the idea of civilians owning machine guns but if its legal its legal and if you can pass the test then who am I to say you cant have one.
Most people either cant pass the test or don’t have the money to buy one in the first place so its kind of self regulating.
They are not cheap–an M-16 will set you back close to 20K and that is the low end.
when it comes to the bump fire stock–anyone that owns one or has eve tried to use one knows it is more than just pulling the trigger and poof–30+ rounds down the pipe–it take practice and one mag will make the barrel so hot you cant touch it 2 mags probably would warp the barrel so all this fire power the liberals cry about is a farce.
Why don’t they spend their time passing the repeal of the disastrous ” Obama care”, pass tax reform –doing something constructive and something that is good for our people, our economy and stop fighting Pres Trump just because he beat Hillary’s ass –whoops she beat herself.
If they want to pass bills –how about investigating every member of the house for illegal activites and tax evasion, only making laws that pertain to everyone instead of one that don’t pertain to them, do something about the killing in Chicago ,Detroit and New Your and prosecute the officials the for NOT DOING THERE JOBS.
Instead of trying to take our guns, stop us from being able to LEGALLY ORDER AMMO ON LINE and anything else they dream up.

  • Michael Keim October 20, 2017, 11:53 am

Nowhere in the Second Amendment are hunting or sportsmen mentioned. Asshole politicians have been blabbing about hunters and sportsmen everytime they want to pass more gun control laws. What they really want is to have no civilian gun ownership. Any of them that actually think the Second Amendment is about hunting are to stupid to be in Congress. They want our guns because they want total control of the population.

    • Ward Dorrity October 20, 2017, 1:04 pm

You have the right of it, sir. The Second Amendment exists to protect a free people from the likes of this piece of DemocRat filth.

These northern and west coast AMerican Neo-Liberal DNC-GOP members of “Congress” have the goal of taking up privately owned firearms.

  • Kiss my ass October 20, 2017, 11:49 am

The Democratic liberals of this country are a complete and utter discrace. The 2nd amendment has nothing to do with “deer” and “sport” hunting. It’s to mow down all you parasitic assholes when you infiltrate and pervert america like your already doing.

  • Colonialgirl October 20, 2017, 11:47 am

Dancing in the blood, dancing in the blood; That is when the anti-gun liberal democrats are not down rolling in it to try and get asinine legislation passed that accomplishes nothing and based solely on stupidity. NONE of the gun laws have done any good; Look at Cleveland, Baltimore, Chicago, Washington, DC and every other city controlled by the democrats with their stringent gun laws.

  • Dexter Winslett October 20, 2017, 11:38 am

  • G Giant October 20, 2017, 11:32 am

It is NOT about hunting. Never has been. The 2nd amendment is about being able to defend ourselves from an abusive and tyrannical government.
Esty shows her stupidity and liberal brain power.

  • Karey Wise October 20, 2017, 11:31 am

Dear Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman: you are mistaken in your basic worldview. You and other legislators were not sent to Washington to protect American Citizens. You were sent to “……protect and defend the US Constitution…..”. In order to be honorable, and since your statement contradicts your oath, your right and proper action is to resign.

  • Paul Ruffle October 20, 2017, 11:29 am

In paragraph 7 of the article above, it states that Esty’s bill is ironically titled, “Keep Americans Safe Act.” When you click on the “Keep Americans Safe Act.” hyperlink it takes you to Senate Bill S.1945, sponsored by Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ). Representative Esty’s bill is H.R. 4052. The two bills are essentially identical in defining a ‘large capacity ammunition feeding device’ as a “magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition; but does not include an attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating only with, .22 caliber rimfire ammunition.” [ so, tubular magazine .22 caliber rifles are not banned in spite of having a capacity of more than 10 rounds] The bill further states, “it shall be unlawful for a person to transfer or possess a large capacity ammunition feeding device.” but the bill “shall not apply to the possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device otherwise lawfully possessed within the United States on or before the date of the enactment of this subsection.” [so, the bill is not retroactive]
The bill is ridiculous. I would ask Rep Esty, “Why is 10 rounds the magic number? Why not 5 rounds or 12 rounds or 15 rounds? What the heck does this have to do with safety? These people who know nothing about guns seem to think that hunting is the only legitimate shooting sport. Apparently they’ve never heard of target shooting including competitive shooting events where you do actually need more that 10 rounds in your magazine.

  • ~ Occams October 20, 2017, 11:01 am

‘If you need 30 rounds for hunting, you suck at hunting.

If you need to disarm your citizens, you suck at governing’

  • ras October 20, 2017, 10:59 am

It’s obvious reading all these comments that the majority of gun owners are mad, disturbed and fed up with the continuing attacks on the 2nd amendment. But as I have been saying for quite a while, it does no good to complain and/or argue amongst ourselves. Cute comments like “we don’t need cars that go over X MPH, doesn’t do anything to stop the liberal Democrat gun grabbers from advancing their anti-2nd Amendment agenda. Facts won’t deter them from their final goal of total ban and confiscation of our firearms. They are focused, committed, passionate, and stand together as one voice. They have the media, academia, and Hollywood as their propaganda platforms. Billionaires like Bloomberg fund them with tens of millions of dollars. All that in striking contrast to pro-gun citizenry. But the biggest danger of all don’t come from the current Democrats in congress. Sure they will put out as many anti-gun bills as they can, but what is disturbing and may very well be the end of gun ownership and the 2nd Amendment as we know it, are the Republicans we sent to Washington to protect our rights. They have the House, Senate, and a President in the Whitehouse that ran on protecting the 2nd Amendment, yet it seems they forgot their pledges, and either roll over to the Democrats, or are ready to introduce anti gun bills of their own. Even the conservative majority of the Supreme Court refuse to hear any cases that address the unconstitutional gun laws already in place in states like California, Connecticut , New York , and others. This may not be something gun owners want to hear, but you can be sure, the days of owing firearms as we now it are in very serious jeopardy. More than ever, instead of infighting, and complain amongst ourselves, we must fight for our rights, and freedoms as never before. At the very least, we must make it clear to Rep Ryan and Senator McConnell that they must not allow any unconstitutional gun bills to ever make it to the floor of congress. Write to your own states representatives, even if yo know they are anti-gun supporters, and what is really missing is what the gun grabbing movement has that gun owners don’t do or do well, is to organize at the local and state grass roots level. Educate people as to the dangers of giving up their rights and freedoms to an out of control government. Then, maybe we have a chance of turning this around in our favor.

Tucker Carlson interviewed an ignorant “law professor” who thought the ATF should come to everyone’s house and “interview” them when they buy “too many guns.” Like Tucker said: “What would the agents ask them? And if you refused to answer, isn’t there some 4th and 5th Amendment protection against answering?” The so-called “professor” didn’t even know the damn Constitution…

I would also like to add, I voted for Trump, but I think he is a backstabber, and he shouldnt get a second term. He hasnt got anything done that he promised. In fact, Im burning my Republican party card. I think that not a single one of them care about anything but themselves. The infighting is pathetic, and fractured the whole party. How pathetic to cry for the last 8 years, then with all the power, Republicans cant pass anything. And we found out they had zero plans on how to get rid of obamacare… they just bitched. I dont even know if I want to vote anymore.
I fought for our country, and yet now I wonder why? I certainly didnt protect freedom, thats dead, Trump is just plain a disappointment. He likes playing king. Unfortunately he is filling the swamp with worse than he found, he wont seek prosecution of his good buddy Clinton, because it was all an act, they are snug business buddies, wheres our tax reform? He only cares about what he can do for himself. Wheres our wall? Nope he pussied out on that too, and illegals are now flooding into Wa state, because the Gov invited them and is giving sanctuary… I knew Trump would be a douche, but jesus… a Republican for any gun restrictions is nothing but a traitor too me. Heres a crazy idea… we have had baby boomers phucking up America for over 30 years… I want a Gen X candidate, it would be nice to be represented for the first time in my life.

Its called \”Convention of the States\” and it is happening now….
Here\’s a quick preview. The Convention passed amendment proposals on the following six ideas:1. The public debt shall not be increased except upon a recorded vote of two-thirds of each house of Congress.
        2. Term limits on Congress
        3. Limiting federal overreach by returning the Commerce Clause to its original meaning
        4. Limiting the power of federal regulations by giving an easy congressional override
        5. Require a super majority for federal taxes and repeal the 16th Amendment
        6. Give the states (by a 3/5ths vote) the power to abrogate any federal law, regulation or executive order.

Sorry guys, but this is not an issue of Liberals versus Conservatives despite the propaganda being spewed out of Washington. The crooked Democratic politicians make noise about gun control because they haven’t accepted as much money from the industry, but if we start seeing more of these types of shootings, and public opinion start amassing against us, the moron who’s serving as President will be the first one to call for an all out ban, and if necessary, martial law to enforce it. Anyone surviving in politics is taking corporate money, and for the most part, knows their place, but Trump is a completely different animal. He rode the wave of public discontent into Washington as a Republican, but his party affiliation has more to do with who he thinks can help him than any type of loyalty. When the crowd starts chanting “Guns Down”, and someone explains to the imbecile what that means, he’s as likely to chant along with them as not! It’s industry money that buys the politicians who protect our rights to buy the firearms they produce, so support those who are really defending us!

    • Scott in Atlanta October 20, 2017, 10:17 am

And it takes a real imbecile to believe that the second-most corrupt, evil, America-despising, traitorous, seditious, enemy of the 2nd Amendment – Hussein the Metrosexual Marxist Obama being the first and foremost – would have been a better choice than the MAN you refer to as a “moron” and an “imbecile”. PRESIDENT Trump may not hold the line – it’s difficult to tell – but your vitriol towards him is pretty revealing. You’d probably be better off posting at your home base over at the Daily Kos than here, where we’re trying to hold a rational discussion over serious matters. I suppose your heroine Hitlery the Demonic One would’ve appointed such a 2nd Amendment stalwart as Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court? Hmmmmm? Crickets?

      • Johnny Raygun October 20, 2017, 11:16 am

@ Scott in Atlanta,,,,,Obama was the one who approved the bump stock and never did anything to take my firearms away. You are full of rage and not clear thinking. Where is our “Hearing Protection Act” 10 months later. Point the finger at who is in charge, not the past

    • Dr Motown October 20, 2017, 10:52 am

So, you would rather have HilBil in the White House looking out for our rights? Industry money + NRA + 2AFoundation DID “buy the politicians who protect our rights to buy the firearms.” I’m sure Wayne and Chris have Trump’s number on their speed dial…

    • G Giant October 20, 2017, 11:41 am

Said like a true secular. I bet you don’t even claim to be a Christian. What was it that made America successful for all this time? It was the blessings of God on a nation of imperfect men who still acknowledged that God was God.
In the 50’s and 60’s we turned away from |Him. Now we reap what we have sown.
A Christian society is based on respect and NOT trying to take control of others. Socialists and communists are guilty of the very thing they accuse Christians of doing. FORCING THEIR IDEAS ON OTHERS.

Well before everybody gets their panties all in a bunch. Since when are the dems in control of anything? Right now they have zero ability to write law. Yea they can write up bills, but how would a single gun control bill get thru a GOP controlled house or senate? Would any of them even make it out of committee? And still has to be signed by Trump. So seems they can rant all they want, its not like this is new, its been their policy for years. Yet even when they were in control, what meaningful gun control legislation was enacted in 8 yrs of Obama? This is all ‘what if’ and straw men.

    • CharlieKing1 October 20, 2017, 10:54 am

I can agree with a lot of your points, yes, we have a Republican controlled Congress. However, I temper my remarks because of the actions so far by Speaker Ryan and my own Texas Senator John Cornyn. Ryan immediately shelved the SHARE Act after the horrendous LV shooting; Cornyn jumped onto the ‘bump-stock’ ban bill before the ink dried on the bill. With RINOs like these two, I cannot trust our Republican controlled Congress. Hold their feet to the fire to make sure these bills never see the light of day or the House floor. We cannot relax, we must remain vigilant…

    • Johnny Raygun October 20, 2017, 11:36 am

Thank you for a common sense post. The Republicans control all four branches of government and we still do not have the “promised” Hearing Protection Act. Just the failed “repeal and replace” and proposed tax breaks for the 1%ers. We elected the republicans to help us firearm owners, we will see if that was a mistake

She has no idea how to solve gun problem. Just empty phrases nothing. I remember 40 years ago in USSR was No Guns Law including police officers (like in Great Britain TODAY, they are not carry a gun) and a mandatory 5 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CARY ANY FIREARM OR AMUNITION. Ammunition every bullet was count. If police officer lost one bullet he could lost a job.
BUT WITH THIS STRICT LAW- EVERY CRIMINAL CARRY A PISTOL OR KALASHNIKOV FULL AUTO.
Look at places with strong antigun laws like Detroit and Chicago. War zone.
I LOVE THIS COUNTRY BECAUSE OF FREEDOM INCLUDING A FREEDOM TO OWN A FIREARM FOR DIFFERENT REASONS (SPORT, PROTECTION OR OTHERS)
    ALEXEI

  • Leonard October 20, 2017, 9:04 am

Buying a gun every other week might lead you to be charged with “structuring”, as you would be if you drew $9,999 out of your bank account–drawing $10 k out triggers bankers to contact the feds, and drawing less than 10k out can be prosecuted, as the feds “know” you really wanted $10k, but tried to avoid the scrutiny.

    • Boz October 20, 2017, 10:09 am

Truth be known, it’s actually $5,000. Everyone who still thinks it is $10k is putting themselves on a watch list.

  • Marty October 20, 2017, 8:11 am

So you just buy a rifle every other week…or one a month, and that completely circumvents their dumbass 5 day policy? It boggles my mind that I have to fill out multiple forms in my state, PA, to purchase any firearm private sale or new from a dealer. But these chucklehead politicians need a “database for the guns we buy…wtf do we need the forms for? They’re state mandated but apparently disappear after you buy your gun. The logic of these extreme left libtards baffles me. Maybe because I know what I’m talking about. They don’t know a damn thing about the weapons they want to ban, what fucking state can you hunt with an AR? They spread false info on bump stocks, automatic weapons, etc. They keep attacking the 2A with rhetoric like “the founding fathers didn’t have AR-15’s…” No they had muskets, and they didn’t write in the 2A muskets or flintlock pistols…”the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” that was to protect from a Tyrannical government, why disarm your citizens that would mean only the government and criminals have guns (they’re pretty much the same to me). My cold dead fucking hands…

    • Jay October 20, 2017, 10:13 am

As an FFL in Texas we are already required to notify the ATF about multiple sales of certain rifles within 5 days. Seeing my customers every 6 days or so is a nice way to catch up.

      • cyanide21 October 20, 2017, 12:29 pm

This is dumb. All a person has to do is go to more than one gun store. Where I live, you have to report multiple hand gun sales if a person buys more than one in a five day period. If the buyer buys from more than one dealer, then there is NO way for the dealer to know that the person purchased a handgun from another dealer. These stupid laws do NOTHING to help, prevent or track sales if the person buying is smart and knows the laws.

  • mike October 20, 2017, 8:01 am

Watch out America….these gun control measures CAN happen. I live in MA and we have had the 10 round magazine limit since 1994, online ammo sales are banned here, and last year AR15 and AK47 rifles were banned as well(Cpoycat assault weapons).

Clearly they have turned the constitution on its head, and forgotten that they work for us, not the other way around. I worry for the nation my grandchildren will inherit. We need to fix it soon.

  • Jaque Bauer October 20, 2017, 7:07 am

The left everywhere follows Marxist doctrine. It’s their guiding light. They are always telling us that we don’t need a certain gun or ammunition or magazine or stock to hunt a dear with, to punch targets with, or blast away at steel or glass or old cars. Self defense is not a legitimate reason for gun ownership. They claim the high ground by selling their anti gun doctrine as a life saving measure. So ask them how many babies their planned parenthood has murdered. Why don’t Democrats stand against Abortion if saving human life is their prime directive. The truth is this. The Left doesn’t give a dam about saving lives. They do however want to disarm every American citizen. Total disarmament is necessary for the Left to end this Republic and its sovereign borders so that they can hand the keys to the United Nations. And don’t forget that the UN was founded with Marxist principles. From what we know about recent criminal activity by the Obama regime it should help you understand that the recent mass murders in the US are likely the work of the Left. That’s right. Democrats are behind both Islamic inspired murder and by otherwise normal citizens or mentally unstable types. All that matters is a mass slaughter to force the hand of Congress to limit, ban, or confiscate arms in the hands of law abiding citizens. Connect the Dots. The UN is anti gun and would love to take away every legally owned arm in America. Think I’m nuts. Obamas Fast and Furious gun smuggling operation was designed to sow carnage in Mexico with US guns giving Obama the political power to institute a Gun ban in the US. Now consider the Uranium One give away to Russia. A US president gives Russia 20% of US Uranium. Crazy huh. The Marxist Left will do anything to advance the und of America as we know it. Will Trump and the NRA stand up for gun owners. NOT A CHANCE IN HELL. Get ready for a civil war. Because Democrats will take back the White House and Congress in 8 years or sooner and they will use the Federal Judges they own to take our guns and ammunition without compensation or grandfathering in current ownership. It will be Australia style confiscation. When that day comes we must have already decided to surrender or fight. Just as we stockpiled arms and ammo before Obama took office we will do the same once again. Only then will Democrats learn that the 2nd Amedment was never about hunting deer and all about fighting tyranny. We must either fight or surrender.

Seems to me that “we” have been surrendering way to long. Starting in 1934 when they took away the right of the average citizen to own a full automatic and make it a crime. Just “they” can have things like the Dillon Aero. Here is the latest version of the 2nd amendment…
The NEW Second Amendment of the amended US Bill of Rights… (sorry, we no longer follow “proper procedure” for amending these pain in the ass listed rights)
A well regulated militia being necessary for the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed EXCEPT:
You are buying the firearms for yourself.
EXCEPT: you want to open a gun store within 500 feet of a residential area.
EXCEPT: you are carrying within 1000 feet of a school.
EXCEPT: you are under indictment or information for a felony for which the judge could imprison you for more then one year.
EXCEPT: you have been convicted of a felony or any other crime for which the judge could have imprisoned you for more then one year, even if you received a shorter sentence including probation.

I find it fascinating that people (democrats) who do not know me and who have never seen me know what I need and want! Is that some kind of Super Power? They must be psychotic!

These Socialist, never let a bad catastrophic event go to waste when it comes to fulfilling their agenda.

Democrats FEAR Patriots with guns…Tyrants/Criminals/Traitors always do. They know that they’re day is coming when Patriots
stop & say “We’ve had enough”. I got news for them, it’s coming sooner than they think.

  • Altoid October 20, 2017, 6:08 am

We’re going to have to be realistic here. As much as I hate to admit it, these anti-freedom, anti-constitution, anti-American idiots are eventually going to win. Once they get a majority back in both houses of congress and the WH, there’ll be no stopping them. It won’t be this year or next, but eventually. And gun control is only one facet of their plans for us.
When that day comes, what are we going to do, people? Are we going to roll over and accept it? Are we going to form a coalition of states made up of like-minded people and secede? Will it be something in between? We may want to start thinking about that eventuality, and seriously.

    • Scott in Atlanta October 20, 2017, 10:51 am

You are absolutely correct. Anyone notice that Satan Soros just poured $18 billion .. BILLION … into his Destroy America funds? The Evil One senses it’s the time to put the full-court press on, time to bring this country to its knees and burn it to the ground. How many politicians can be bought with $18 bil? Hell, he already owns an entire party! And part of another one, frankly – McCain comes to mind, and if you doubt me, go do a little research and you’ll find that Nasty McSongbird is connected to BelzeSoros, having donated a bunch of his left-over failed presidential campaign money to one of Soros’ Destroy America funds. Yep, that money we fools donated to try and help that vile traitor get elected went to … Soros.

And there is no counterbalance to Soros that I can see, no conservative billionaire concerned about the Nazi collaborator who hates this country so much that he’ll spend every last penny of his money to see it destroyed. All I see are the Kochs, the Wynns, those types, just worried about putting “their boys” into office, the boys who always seem to be just Democrat-Lite types, weak-kneed milquetoasts who are content to let the other side win, just go-along, get-along types. And in the end, our country still gets destroyed. No, “our” billionaires just seem concerned about conserving their power, and little concerned about ideology, freedom, good vs. evil, countering the despicable and horrific goals of Soros and his bought-and-paid-for political party.

But I digress. The battle is slowly, insidiously being lost, at least from my vantage point in Georgia. Our so-called “Republican” politicians are for the most part Demonrats who switched the letter at the end of their names when the tide turned but still rule as Demons. They love big government, taxes, rules and regulations for EVERYTHING, they hate freedom, they have been courting Hollyweird perverts to come to our normal state to make their filth and have succeeded, and now they are so thrilled that the pervs walk among us, spreading their brand of immorality and liberalism (of course), and they despise … DESPISE … the 2nd Amendment, passing sham laws that pretend to be 2nd friendly but that are in fact the reverse. Combine this with the fact that Georgia has a great climate, is close to mountains and beaches, is just a nice place to live overall, and due to that has attracted an influx of liberals who want to enjoy the good things that Georgia has to offer but look down their noses at us hillbillies with our conservative values, and vote for the same sorts of progressive idiots that made their home states such wretched hellholes. Watch Georgia – with Demon George’s graft money, it will gently ease blue in the not-too-distant future, another bastion red state disappeared. So when you speak of a “coalition of states”, do not think that you can count on Georgia – you cannot. It is as good as lost.

So where do we go, where do we retreat, where is our safe haven where we can take a stand, secede together, start a new and free country? I think about this a lot and if there is a place, my wife and I will move there. But no matter where you think is a good, safe place, Wicked George’s money will be pouring in there as well, for he’ll want to make sure NO place is safe for us. His dedication to the destruction of our side is remarkable and unswerving. When I think of him, I think of Faust, the anti-Christ and the Terminator. How do we fight back against such a creature???

Don’t feel like the lone ranger,my friend! I was born, and still live in the Great State of Tennessee, and the same thing is happening here! I live in the mountains of East Tenn. and every time an old timer dies,it’s just a matter of time before his property is bought by the same liberals who say that they just love these mountains. Then they want all of the comforts of living in the city. I target practice daily with an assortment of guns and have had the law called on me more than once. The deputies will drive up to see what’s going on and then laugh when they see what’s happening. And when they leave I really throw the lead and make all of the noise I can! What do You do?

  • Jay October 20, 2017, 6:01 am

Now maybe those who don’t want to believe our illustrious back door government has an Agenda with all these shootings, will open their eyes to the ever changing story lines, information and such! The far left is easy to figure out and they sell it good to the sheep to eat up!

  • JD October 20, 2017, 5:49 am

The only bill I would support if someone with balls would submit it is the “Not One More Inch” bill. Before I would give it full support though it would have to have a “Repeal All Gun Control Act”. After it’s all rolled back then we would have exactly what the founding fathers expected us to have when it comes to bearing arms.
My liberty is not up for compromise. The Constitution is a document that limits government, not the people. If the antis want to ban something they have only one constitutional way of doing so and it’s called an amendment.

The Dumbascraps are coming, but they’ll get no where. They’d do well to remember that, at some point, we’ll have enough of their anti-gun garbage andl be coning for them….armed to the teeth…

  • Seymour Glutsky October 19, 2017, 1:05 pm

I will keep this dignified. You say that the Founding fathers when they created the 2nd amendment, never anticipated semi-automatic handguns and rifles. Fair enough. When those same founding fathers crafted the first amendment, especially as it pertains to speech, go you think the anticipated the internet, chat rooms, the dark web or any of the innovations in the last 20-30 years? Of course not. Here’s the truth bomb: If we do away with semiautomatic weapons because they weren’t anticipated, them the internet must go. Think about that! It’s actually a very logical argument.

    • Mockingbird October 20, 2017, 4:37 am

A step further. I feel certain that the founders never dreamed of the automobile and all the destruction that it would cause. The automobile kills more people each year than firearms. Therefore maybe it should be barred.

    • Youdon'tgetitdoya? October 20, 2017, 6:53 am

You don’t get it do ya?
Giving the left even .000001 of an inch moves their agenda in THEIR direction And we, the the law abiding – multi gun owning 2A’ers will do so at our own peril.
      Think about it. . .

    • JoeUSooner October 20, 2017, 10:58 am

I don’t consider that argument (modern weapons being unanticipated) as “fair enough.”

The Founding Fathers were sane, intelligent, well-educated, reasonable and sophisticated men. They knew history, and had a comprehensive understanding of the evolution of firearms up to their era… from the hand-cannon “blunderbuss” to flintlocks. They had no reason to believe that such evolution would just magically stop.

They gave us the 2nd Amendment specifically to allow us to resist tyranny… with exactly the same weaponry that tyranny would use to enslave us.

  • Seymour Glutsky October 19, 2017, 12:58 pm

These crainial titans, mental midgets don’t look at the footage of where a 30 round “magazine” not “clip” saved a life. They are afraid to look into it and desk the truth (CDC report for one, John Lott’s books as well). These people GENUINELY DON’T KNOW ABOUT WHAT THEY SPEAK.” Saying a handguard makes a weapon fully automatic. However, if these liberal brain trusts researched the workings of a firearm, they would still want them named because of an emotional and legal agenga. We can never give a inch because 10 years down the road when we can only own yellow, see-through squirt guns, will we look back with our fucking squirtgun and say, What happened?” My favorite is the bayonet lug! When did you see some crazed motherfucker run down the street with a bayonet? My ass hasn’t! We need to stop the gun grabbers and shut them Doreen for good.
