SIG P320 80 Percent Kits Around the Corner from Ghost Guns

Ghost Guns, a specialist in 80 percent receiver kits, is working on an 80 percent frame compatible with SIG Sauer’s new P320. The P320 is SIG’s incredibly successful polymer-framed, striker-fired service pistol.

The P320’s modularity is what makes this kit so interesting and promising. The P320 is built around a simple stamped steel chassis. The rest of the gun is completely interchangeable. After completing the 80 percent kit, all a home gunsmith needs is an X-Change kit to make a working firearm.

To make things even easier, SIG sells X-Change kits separately, with everything but the frame included. X-Change kits are available in a variety of chamberings in compact, subcompact and full-size configurations.

Like other 80 percent receivers, Ghost Gun’s P320 kit is not a firearm and can be shipped directly to buyers without needing to go through an FFL. It can’t be used to build a pistol without modification.

To prevent the kit from qualifying as a firearm by law, the frame rails are oversized and can’t accept a slide. Also, the frame does not have the pin holes drilled out for the fire control group and takedown lever.

Because the rails are oversized, builders can hand-fit their frames to their P320 slides. This hopefully promises an edge in accuracy, too.

Ghost Guns has an introduction page for the P320 80 percent kit on the company website. Right now they’re just showing off the frame by itself. When they start selling the kit they will also list a jig set and the other parts and tools necessary to build it into a functioning firearm.

We are waiting on a few details including pricing and availability; we’ll be sure to follow up when that information is available. Ghost Guns carries a few other 80 percent pistol kits that start around $150. Their jigs run about $135.

In the meantime, if you’re eager to take on a home gunsmithing project right away Ghost Guns has other pistol and rifle receivers right now.

Ghost gun carries AR-pattern 80 percent receivers in standard, DPMS and Glock magazine-compatible versions as well as 80 percent AKs. If you’re looking for a pistol project they also carry several 80 percent Glock frames and 1911s, too.

The Army recently selected the SIG P320 to replace their aging stock of service pistols. The design was also an instant success with law enforcement and private shooters. With this kit in the mix, it is sure to be a smash hit with the 80 percent club as well.
