We had the opportunity to speak with Jamie from American Tactical at Range Day. We discussed their new target system, designed for shooters who crave precision and versatility.

American Tactical’s latest offering is a live-pair target system, capable of handling distances up to 1,400 yards. Priced at under $900, the system is compatible with ammunition ranging from 22 LR to 50 cal.

What sets this smart target system apart is its portability; it can be conveniently folded up and transported in a box measuring about 2×2 feet.

The target system operates with a standalone reader and a tablet, providing shooters with the flexibility to use either Wi-Fi or RFID technology. This is particularly advantageous in remote areas where phone connectivity is unreliable. The system is also weatherproof, ensuring durability in various shooting environments.

As shots hit the target, the system reads the impact and relays the information to the shooter’s tablet. However, it does not indicate missed shots.

The downrange target, shielded by an AR-15 steel plate, deflects bullets and is rated up to 50 cal. For larger firearms, bigger targets are available. The system is attached to a downrange electronic box, and it accurately reports the zone of each hit.

American Tactical’s system comes with various targets, with individual targets priced between $9 and $40. Impressively, each target can apparently withstand up to 1,100 rounds without the need for patching or replacing.
