Overview

New for 2017 is the Trijicon AccuPower 1-8x28mm riflescope. The AccuPower 1-8x is a very flexible scope, fully capable of filling many roles simultaneously.

With a 34mm tube and a 28mm objective lens, Trijicon’s new scope is plenty bright. It’s as suited for tactical guns as it is on hunting rifles. At 1x power the scope makes fast target acquisition easy and at higher powers it can be a big help hitting targets at greater distances. It’s a true all-purpose optic.

The Trijicon AccuPower 1-8x has a first focal plane reticle. This means that the reticle and its graduations will increase or decrease in size as the magnification is raised or lowered.

Trijicon offers the scope with two reticle options, marked for MIL or MOA. Additionally the AccuPower has a powered segmented circle reticle for quick target acquisition at the lower magnification settings. The lit reticle is perfect for dark targets as well such as black bear or Cape buffalo.

The AccuPower 1-8×28 comes with either .25 MOA adjustments, or .1 MIL adjustments. The scope is capable of an impressive 100 MOA (29.6 mils) adjustment so the long range issue is no issue at all.

The scope is powered by a CR2032 lithium power cell, which provides least 31 hours of battery life when used at maximum power. The brightness of the reticle is controlled by a beefy control knob on the left side of the reticle housing. The scope has 11 different brightness settings with an off position between each power level.

Impressions

There’s no debating that optics are one of the fastest-improving technologies in the gun industry. The Trijicon AccuPower 1-8x continues to push the extremes of what commercial optics can do today. It has the goods on all fronts.

Though it weighs in at 25 ounces, it delivers on solid features and good brightness. I could see this scope sitting on any number of different rifles, from a home-defense or competition-ready AR, to a wood-stocked .30-caliber hunting rifle and even on a heavy-hitting dangerous game magnum rifle. All of these stand to reap the benefits packed into this versatile optic. Personally, I need more than one…

Pricing

It’s no surprise that Trijicon’s 1-8x AccuPower scope comes at a higher price. The scope’s MSRP is $1,699. Even considering that retail prices tend to be lower, this scope is no budget option. But it’s worth noting that until recently, scopes capable of magnification ranges like 1-8x cost well over $2,000. In that light this scope is attractively priced, especially considering it delivers a full suite of premium features.
