New York might become the first state to block the sale of certain pistols — Glocks! — unless manufacturers implement measures to prevent them from being converted into machine-gun-like firearms.
State Sen. Zellnor Myrie, a Democrat from Brooklyn, introduced the bill because of worries about “Glock switches.” These tiny devices can make a regular pistol shoot like a machine gun, firing all the bullets in one go just by holding the trigger.
This bill focuses on pistols that can be modified with Glock switches, mainly Glocks, that are arguably the most popular handguns in America. Sen. Myrie claims Police are concerned about these devices being used in crimes, including shootings.

The reaction to the proposed bill has been swift and sharp, especially from figures within the firearm industry.
Mark Oliva, Managing Director of Public Affairs at the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), criticized the bill as overly broad and potentially damaging.
“Senator Myrie’s bill is sweeping legislation that has the potential to ban nearly all semiautomatic handguns, particularly striker-fired handguns,” Oliva stated.
He argued that the bill, influenced by the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention and advocacy groups like Everytown, unfairly targets Glock pistols—guns known for their reliability and widely used by law enforcement, including the NYPD.
Oliva expressed concerns that the legislation does not differentiate between criminal misuse of firearms and lawful ownership.
“This attack is short-sighted,” he continued. “Senator Myrie is attacking lawful firearm manufacturers and attempting to force them to predict the actions of criminals, which is unreasonable. Instead of focusing on enforcing existing laws and addressing crime directly, this bill could deny law-abiding citizens access to a wide range of firearms.”

I don’t know if there are any NY Sate residents that read comments on GA, I used to differentiate between those who did not live in the huge metroplexes there, but now are including you in my comment that NY State is the most corrupt state in the Union. You have the most closed minded and corrupt governemtn and politicians, you murder the unborn even at the time of birth where they are left to die on the table, you support every form of perversion known to man and create more as you go along. The citizens of NY need to take their state back, but they don’t, they keep its leftists ways expanding every election. When it comes to justice in NY State, a black man in the Old South would get a better chance of a fair trial with a jury full of hooded white men, than any conservative, especially Trump, could get anywhere in NYC or NY State. Like CA, it would be best if you just broke off the land, floated out into the Atlantic and sank with all on board.
How about blocking the sale of Glock switches rather than Glock pistols? Save yourself a Second Amendment fight
I have never read an article wherre the shooter had a Glock with the device to convert it to fully automatic.
What is the frequency of encountering this gun with this device?
If they do this, I sure hope Glock has the stones to cut off the NYPD and all other LE agencies in the state. No Glocks for your people? No Glocks for you, period.
People’s republic of Massachusetts has been blocking sales of certain hand guns for years.
Illinois has been blocking certain guns for years.
Maybe the good Senator should focus on the behavior of the people in his district and the NY DA’s office that prosecutes nothing.

If this passes, companies affected need to quit selling to police agencies in those cities/states.
Of course it’s shortsighted! But statistically, the only shootings involving the Glock ‘fun-switch’ are among the hood-rats that illegally own them anyway. Banning Glocks is just another way for the anti 2nd amendment ‘Demoncrats’ to continue their agenda of disarming America and turning our country into a communist/socialist rule. We all know the 2nd amendment shouldn’t be a partisan political issue, like the ‘Demoncrats’ have turned it into since Kennedys took one for the team.
Being a GSSF member, I own 12 Glocks. Why would I want to f#$k one of them up by installing that idiotic ‘fun-switch’ on it? You can’t control the damn thing in full-auto anyway, without practically blowing your hand off. What good is it in the real world? You ever wonder why the Secret Service doesn’t use them?
The answer is; the BLM crowd loves them in THEIR real world they have created. Every 14 year old hood-rat strives to own one, and a lot do. Since it’s primarily being used by those hood-rats against other hood-rats, why not just pass them out along with the welfare checks and food stamps every month? Eventually this problem will take care of itself.
If NY succeeds with this unconstitutional ban, AR15s, Ruger 1022s, and many other makes and models will be banned next, as they are easily converted into full auto.

If NY was serious about curtailing crime they’d keep repeat offenders in jail, seeing that 95% of violent crime is perpetrated by repeat offenders.

No doubt no New York jurisdiction will be allowed to issue Glocks as duty weapons and will transitioning to something else immediately, right? Wouldn’t want to have those dangerous things out on the streets…
criminals will still have them and the switches, might as well just make full auto legal to even the arms race!
