Newsom Goes on the ‘Offensive’ Against Gun Industry, Pushing Legislation to Bankrupt Firearm Makers

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Current Events This Week Uncategorized

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is pushing legislation that would open the floodgates for frivolous lawsuits against the gun industry.

During a press conference at Del Mar Fairgrounds last Friday, Newsom spoke about his mission to go on the “offensive” by allowing private citizens, municipalities, and the state attorney general to sue gun makers and sellers for “reckless behavior.”

“California will continue to lead the fight to end gun violence with bold action to tackle the national crisis putting millions of Californians at risk,” said Gov. Newsom.

“It’s time to go on the offensive with new measures that empower individuals to hold irresponsible and negligent gun industry actors to account, crack down on shameful advertising that targets our kids and more,” he continued.  “This is not about attacking law-abiding gun owners – it’s about stopping the tragic violence ravaging communities across the country.”

Per a press release from the governor’s office, the three bills being prioritized are as follows:

  • AB 1594 would allow individuals and the Attorney General to sue firearm manufacturers and sellers
  • AB 2571 would prohibit the marketing of certain categories of weapons to children
  • AB 1621 would tighten ghost gun restrictions

Media outlets are covering AB 1594 as a copycat of a controversial Texas law that allows any private citizen to sue an abortion provider even if that individual did not receive an abortion. Newsom threatened to propose such a law after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to strike down the Texas policy.

In fact, the California law is modeled more closely after another equally bad New York law that allows gun makers to be sued for creating a “public nuisance.” That law has come under fire from the National Shooting Sports Foundation as a blatant attempt to “impose on the firearm industry a ‘death by a thousand cuts,’” said Lawrence Keane of the NSSF.

With a veto-proof supermajority in both chambers, it’s likely that Legilsture will move expeditiously to enact the proposed bills. Stay tuned for updates.

Ah, California. Land of fruits and nuts. Crime state capital of the country. Come one, come all. Enjoy living in parks and on sidewalks, thanks to Pelosi and Newsom. Be careful of the little dollops in the walkways. Now comes along a law as stupid as the rest of the state. No wonder the population is fleeing in droves. My state of Arizona is inundated with California migrants looking for fair government and the honest observation of the Constitution. Where men are free to live honest lives and the right to live and let live. Maybe with luck, the San Andreas Fault will split off the Golden State and let it sink into the Pacific.

Speaking as a california refugee, and oregon escaoee, i took a truck down to l a last year, and it reminded me of the summer of ’69 in san freakysicksco. Also remembered what i heard as a kid. Its not ciudad de los angeles, city of the angels, its ciudad de los locos anglos, city of the crazy anglos.

The local B. Of A.T.F.E.et.c told me years ago, you make a gun (and you’re legal to posess it) its legal and its yours, cant sell it w/o a manufacturers license, unless its blackpiwder, and if you’re making blackpowder guns to sell, “you gotta have a li-cence”. So, these ghostgun finishing operations are thus illegal, unless theyre licensed, and for that kinda money i’d pass on a scast plastic 80% kit and buy an alloy lower (since a steel one =unobtainium), with a legit ser#, for one less charge some antigunner activist DA can put on me. I have contemplated ghosguns, but decided that the left-owned media has made these perfectly legal items into the equivalant of a nuclear dirtybomb, and i dont need or want to have my name and address on something the left can have me hung, strung, chunked, and flung for, since they are getting the lists of who-has-these. For just our legal guns, they want to pillory us, surrounded by flaming faggots. (Ah, those are the large chunks of oil-soaked kindling wood they piled up around witches, heretics, traitors, et.c….) I dont think i will ever go back to kalifornia, but that dosent mean i feel they deserve this stuff any farther than the next election. I bet that depp kid dosent want to repeat his actors-and-presidents line about the current one, but then, many play-actors are just posers anyway, tolerably competent to remember a piece of script long (and often) enough for the director to decide its a keeper. Ahhhhrrr…..whose script wos ‘e readin’, any’ow?

    • Jerry July 8, 2022, 9:24 am

And now in july we can see what they do with these lists they have illegally acquired. Dont know about kalifornia, but nationally almost half of democrats own guns, and they cant be happy about the recent release of gun-owner info lists

  • chum lee February 26, 2022, 12:14 pm

New Com needs to build a wall around his empire to keep all those guns from crawling in.

  • e February 25, 2022, 6:47 pm

“shameful advertising” Is he referring to his beloved Holywood or “irresponsible and negligent gun actor” Alec Baldwin???????? Funny how that works!

  • AK February 25, 2022, 3:19 pm

Firearms manufacturers and retailers should refuse to sell any firearms, ammunition, accessories or repair services to California law enforcement should this law be enacted. Period.

  • Shanz February 25, 2022, 1:39 pm

Um to my knowledge you can still purchase AR 22s in Kalifornia. Gavin Dudescum is so stupid and tyrannical he doesn’t even know the law. I can go buy a Smith and Wesson M&P 22 today at Big 5. Democrats are fucking retards.

Gubernator Newsom can go F*$k himself. He can’t even keep the streets of Commiefornia clean now. How is this going to solve anything? The Soros backed DAs let the criminals out of jail because they think they are “victims” of society. Yet, the law-abiding citizens don’t have the RIGHT to protect themselves. If they shoot or otherwise injure a criminal, they are slapped with a wrongful death lawsuit, even though it was the criminal who was at fault for his own death. We need to get rid of Newsom and most of the state legislature to get any relief from these DEMONcRAT “progressives” (more like REGRESSIVES). HEIL NEWSOM (at least it seems that way).

    • Jerry July 8, 2022, 9:34 am

The original Progressives were Republicans; technical industrial progression is the only way forward. The democrats (luddites) subverted the message to We are Socially Progressive, people are more important than evil machines, we are the true progrexxives

  • MARTIN February 25, 2022, 12:43 pm

Let’s start by holding politicians that vote for illegal immigrant amnesty accountable for the crimes the illegals they allow to stay here commit. Next, let’s start holding the criminals that use handguns to commit crimes accountable for their actions rather than taking a soft approach. Next, let’s hold the politicians that vote for gun free zones accountable for all the injuries incurred by people inside those zones when a criminal commits a crime inside those zones that a legally armed citizen could have stopped should they have been allowed to carry inside the gun free zone. Next, let’s make it illegal to defund our first line of defense and make protecting our first responders a priority. And finally, let’s arm our responsible citizens so they can protect themselves since the politicians are doing everything they can to empower the criminals.

I agree with everything said and realize that the rage and passion fomented buy Governor Newsom’s pathetic attempt to circumvent our Sacred Consititution is very real. I pray that common sense will evuntually prevail and these demorat idiots (misspelling intentional) will be voted out!

  • Clint W. February 25, 2022, 10:19 am

It is difficult to do, but all gun makers should just relocate to other more friendly states, and all gun and ammo makers nation wide should stop the sale of anything gun related, including ammo, to any individual or state agency in that state. California should be just given back to Mexico and let them deal with it because it sure is not part of the US anymore.

  • jeff wood February 25, 2022, 9:17 am

cali citizenry deserve exactly what they elect….when will they learn, especially since these stupid laws end up costing cali citizens so much money in legal fees after they become law its ridiculous. try spending the money on something meaningful like cleaning up the homeless problem, or better yet, electing someone with a brain!

  • David Hill February 25, 2022, 9:13 am

Maybe Newscum should focus on decreasing Violence instead of Harassing Law Abiding Gun Owners and Gun Manufacturers!! If you Protect Criminals and then say you want to “End Violence”, you’re Nothing but a Damned Liar!! Newscum Must Go!! Save California!!

Maybe the correct response to Governor Newsom’s proposed legislation and any other States legislation of this sort is for the gun industry to do the same thing Barrett industries did in California a few years ago when California banned the sale of their rifles. The gun industry should notify the State it will no longer service or sell their firearms to any law enforcement agency in the State. Checkmate Governor Newsom.

  • Nicholas February 25, 2022, 9:01 am

As a student of history, law, and economics I question what it is that the firearms industry thinks of when faced with the issues surrounding gun control?
From an historical perspective, and speaking with brevity, I point you to the fact that it was Organized Militia who faced British regulars on the Green in Lexington in order to protect their Arms. From there we should look to the past Century and note the horrific numbers of those poor souls who were murdered by governments around the world. Two-Hundred-Sixty Million men, women, and children murdered at the hands of those carrying out orders from government “officials”.
From the point of law, I question the voracity of those who claim to be supporters of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. If the Second Amendment were removed tomorrow, it would mean nothing except to those who’ve fostered a scheme to disarm the People. Most believe that the Second is the beginning and the end. However, the first question that comes to this student of our laws is how do you enforce and protect your rights when the government assumes powers that jeopardize our liberty?
The Second was added in order that usurpers could not disarm “the Militia of the several States” so that public officials would adhere to the original context of the Constitution. The U.S. Constitution recognizes the authority of Militia “to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections, and repel Invasions”. Militia is undefined in the Constitution as the Framers already knew, and participated in the lawful practice, conduct, and application. For some inexplicable reason, the pro-2nd community and the legal profession completely ignore the fact that “A well regulated Militia” means “the whole people” trained, armed, and organized. That applies to the “individual right” by the fact that it is “We the People” who have the authority “to execute the Laws of the Union”. The Bill of Rights is clear that you cannot have one without the other. But the judiciary, and of course the legal profession have completely distorted the rule of law, and the public has just gone along without doing their own research, and understanding that the Duty, and the Right are inextricably linked.
What is most perplexing in this entire equation is the question of the business model that assists in its own demise. The full benefit derived from embracing the constitutional “Militia of the several States” as the means of protecting the individual is obvious in law, and logic. What is so disturbing is the utter contempt of so-called pro-2nd supporters to embrace the DUTY that the Framers recognized as “necessary to the security of a free State”, and the benefit that the industry would see with millions more customers.

    • Paul Smith February 25, 2022, 12:20 pm

Perhaps you should be a student of the English language. A militia is a fighting force of non-professional soldiers which can be any organized group including civilians that exist to protect their rights and may stand in support of a professional army to help them in time of war. When you look at the context of how “the right of the people” is used in every other amendment, I always find it interesting that anti gun people think it’s somehow different in the 2nd. As is the term “shall not be infringed”!

      • Ian moone February 25, 2022, 8:05 pm

He is not arguing against the second. He is saying that it is we the people’s job to correct the government when they stray from the law. We the people have just sat and watched as they eat away at the constitution.

    • Jerry July 8, 2022, 9:40 am

Walk down any street in any big city in CA and count the times someone offers to sell you drugs. Count the number of times you have to step over “Human Waste”. Count the number of times someone comes up and begs for money. Count the discarded needles laying in the gutters, Count the tents and makeshift shelters in every open lawn area, Count the times someone tries to sell you something that has been shoplifted from the store they are in front of. Question why Major companies are moving to other states, Question why a great percentage of their high schools are giving diplomas to people that can’t read or write. Ask why stores are closing all over the state. Take a trip to CA. and see what they have done to this state!!! They want to ban guns when they are unable to enforce the laws. This once beautiful state is now a “CHIT-SHOW”!!!!

  • Carlito February 25, 2022, 7:58 am

It’s time for every manufacturer of guns and or gun parts that resides inside the border of Kalifornia to go on the offensive and leave the state and stop funding this mad hatter with the fruits of their labor.

  • John February 25, 2022, 7:53 am

WHY IS NO LAW SHALL BE PASSED TO INFRINGE UPON THIS RIGHT !! SO FRICKIN FRACKIN DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND , comprehend , and ADHERE TO ??!? JUST AS THESE PEOPLE EXPECT US TO NOT BREAK THE STUPID ASS LAWS THEY pass,,or push thru buried inside some other bill they pass in a secret closed door session ,, YET EXPECT US TO OBEY???!!!?? YET THEY DONT THINK OUR RIGHTS DESERVE THE SAME OR WORSE YET,, think they can treat A RIGHT LIKE IT IS SOME SORT OF PRIVELDGE NOT ONLY RNDOWRD TO US BY OUR CREATOR BUT BACKED UP,, IN WROTING IN ST LEAST 2 NATIONAL DOCUMENTS THE CONSTITUTION,, THE BILL OF RIGHTS,, and yes every last one !! Only paper I should ever need to buy any weapon I choose ALREADY GIVEN PERMISSION BY THE 2ND ,, AND BY MY CRRATOR,, AND THE FOUNDERS OF GHIS COUNTRY !! LET JUST KEEP TRASIMG OUR RIGHTS FOR SO CALLDD SECURITY,, we will surely lose both,,, AND DESERVE NEITHER !! DEATH TO TYRANTS !

Here is possibly the most important quote from Newsom left out of the article:

“It was a Republican governor by the name of Ronald Reagan that led that effort. It [the Mulford Act] may not have been his focus on gun safety — it may have had a racial component associated with the Black Panthers — but nonetheless, on May 2nd 1967 the American modern gun safety movement started here in California.”

He’s saying that gun control is OK even though it’s racist.
