SCCY, the Florida-based firearms manufacturer, is well-known for its affordably priced hammer-fired handguns.
At SHOT Show 2020, they launched a new striker-fired model, the DVG-1, and it’s available with optics right from the factory for a low, low price.
David vs. Goliath
The DVG-1 is meant to take on guns by manufacturers with much bigger names than SCCY. It’s got a 3.1″ barrel and comes with black or silver stainless steel slides and a black polymer frame. SCCY (pronounced “sky” for the founder’s love of flying) is also known for its colorful array of frames, but this one is currently only offered in black (colors coming later in 2020).
Compared to previous models, the DVG-1 has a slimmer grip with enhanced texturing, and front and rear slide serrations. It’s right at 1″ thick.
Interestingly, you can get it with either a standard slide lock or a slim slide lock. It’s got G43 compatible sights and it ships with 2 mags with pinky extensions.
The trigger has a flat blade and weighs in at just 5.5lbs with a 1/4″ pull. The trigger guard is slightly undercut for a higher grip. This gun has a drop-safety-firing-pin block but lacks any other active safety so it’s ready to fire when needed.
A trend we’re seeing is that many companies are offering pistols with red dots mounted right from the factory, and SCCY is keeping pace. The DVG-1RD ships with a Crimson Trace CTS 1500. It’s got a 3.5 MOA dot, a 20,000-hour battery life, and a 3-year warranty.
SCCY guns are 100% machined in the USA with USA components. MSRP for the DVG-1 is just $289, or get the DVG-1RD for only $389 with an optic installed.
