Arizona Doctor points AR-15 At airport patrons

On Friday, a research doctor was arrested after he allegedly pointed an AR-15 at a woman and her daughter while they were inside Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, local media reports

According to authorities, Dr. Peter Nathan Steinmetz brought his rifle into a non-secure part of the airport, where it’s legal to carry firearms, ordered a coffee from Starbucks, then removed the gun from his shoulder and pointed the firearm at the woman and her teenage daughter.

“It was him being negligent in how he was manipulating the weapon,” Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos told AZFamily.com. “(He) pointed it toward a couple individuals, two females, and made them nervous; made them feel threatened by them.”

Following the incident, Steinmetz was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct with a weapon.

“There are certainly a lot of things that we can do and have rights to do, but using some common sense that taking weapons to an airport, especially in this particular case is really going to make people nervous,” added Martos.

Apparently, this isn’t the first time Dr. Steinmetz openly carried a firearm into the airport’s terminal. Though, when he did it last year, police were called by no arrest was made.

The Barrow Neurological Institute, where Steinmetz works, released a statement saying, “We are aware of the situation and are taking it very seriously. At present this issue is being handled by human resources.”

A judge set the doctor’s bond at $5,000. He said he intended to pay it in cash.

The Doctor was falsely accused. He never pointed a rifle at anyone. Video shows it, there are no charges against him.

That might be the case, but still there is a good chance the hospital will fire him for the sake of political correctness.

On the other hand, carrying an AR15 to an airport was not his brightest move. In the end of the day, all he is doing is giving the opportunity for someone with criminal intents to plan the best time to steal it.
