Jim’s West Steaks & Hoagies reopened in West Philadelphia. Eager customers lined up around the building.
“I’m so excited,” customer Nitah Dunham, of West Philadelphia, told WPVI. “The food has always been good.”
Yet, something new caught their eye: armed agents stood guard carrying long guns.
Co-owner Cortez Johnson explained the beefed-up security detail.
“The violence has spiked,” said Johnson. “It goes up and down. You want people to feel safe and be safe. So when they come out and eat, they don’t have to worry about no type of harm.”
“Our lines are down the block, so while you’re standing here in line, connecting with other people you may not know, we have security right here just to keep you guys safe,” added Saul Landers, the CFO of Jim’s West.

They hope the guards deter crime.
Kevon Darden, the owner of Presidential Protection Services, spoke about the agents he has working at Jim’s West Steaks & Hoagies.
“It’s not just myself,” explained Darden. “It’s usually other agents who are sworn and certified by the state of Pennsylvania to do security work when they’re off duty. All of us are former military, police, or have law enforcement backgrounds.”

These agents are present from Thursday to Sunday.
For the most part, feedback from the customers is positive.
“Safety and good food is always a plus,” said Dunham.
It would be interesting to hear what gun control activists have to say about the situation at Jim’s West.
They often claim no one “needs” an AR-style rifle. But clearly the proprietors of this Philly cheesesteak shop feel differently. Because they know the best way to stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun.

Unfortunately, in the “communist” state of NY security at a public place with long guns or AR’s would not be permitted. Locations with a history or that are an easy target should have obvious armed security – it’s called “harding a target”. It’s a great deterrent, it’s says “not here”!

Shame it has come to this. I’d rather they carry handguns instead of AR style rifles. Less intimidating to the average customer….but don’t think Philly allows open carry of handguns. In this case, open carry is a deterrent.

The liberals can’t say anything about this. Remember, not that long ago in Texas when ANTIFA armed with rifles stood guard for one of their sick, child grooming, cross dressing shows. Then afterwards praised ANTIFA for protecting a bunch of unfit parents.

You can NOT have enough GOOD GUYS with firearms. I do feel sorry for Communist States that try to limit the 2nd amendment. Here in Louisiana Every third person is armed so the trouble goes to New Orleans where they think good guys make great targets for bad guys. Why should it change those folks keep electing the same bums.

I’d say if you need to pay for armed guards, save that expense & move your business to a constitutional carry state/ city & serve them killer Phillies in relative peace knowing a percentage of your patrons are armed !
Going to have to agree, it really is the only response to this nonsense, move to a red state and life will be better than what you get in democrat shitholes.

I can see where the owners may have roots in this part of the city, family and friends, perhaps even a church community that they’re involved in. They cannot move everyone! Overall, this scenario makes a good point for 2nd Amendment advocates. Wouldn’t it be wonderful IF the locals started to reject Democratic politicians in Philadelphia?!

I think that they need to have pamphlets, letters or a posting explaining who the security is and backgrounds. Also, that they are not carrying machine guns. They need to inform the customers about what it is going on so they can better understand the security and hopefully make those who are uneasy feel better.
We will see more of this in the coming months/ years. With 15 million military age invaders America will descend into enclaves protected by private security. Everybody else? Welcome to the jungle. America as we knew it growing up is over.
