Canada’s Tactical Imports Corp. is happy to announce the availability of Hungary’s Gepard GM6 Lynx anti-materiel and sniper rifle now in the U.S. It is a very capable, very accurate bullpup chambered for .50 BMG.

The GM6 is a semi-automatic version of the Gepard family of hard-hitting rifles. It’s the most up-to-date model with stronger and lighter parts than previous versions. Currently, the gun is in service by military and police forces in a smattering of countries including, of course, Hungary.

It’s compact in its bullpup configuration, measuring in at 44 inches long with the standard barrel installed. The GM6 can be set up with 28-inch or 36-inch barrels for maximum range. It breaks down for ease of transportation, too.

With its long-recoil action and big, beefy muzzle brake, recoil should be relatively light. It weighs 25 pounds unloaded without a scope.

Every rifle has a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee with match-grade ammo. The Lynx comes with one Lothar-Walther barrel assembly and two 5-round magazines. Tactical Imports sells additional barrels and mags separately.

These are not inexpensive guns with a sticker price of $11,999 USD (American dollars). That gets you pair of 34mm 50 BMG scope rings, spare action spring, bipod, cleaning kit, hard case and manual. Extra mags and barrel assemblies will set you back $375 and $1,650, respectively.

Prices in Canada are a little higher at $14,999 CAD but that reflects the exchange rate. That and semi-automatic .50-caliber rifles are a lot harder to come by up north.

All things considered, it is priced in-line with other self-loading .50s — especially considering how rare and cool these rifles are.

Buyers will also need a measure of patience as each rifle is imported as a special order. It can take up to 6 months for delivery and Tactical Imports requires a 35 percent down payment.

Whether you’re into long-range hunting, target shooting or just want to collect exotic firearms, the Gepard GP6 should be on your radar.

Its accuracy and range is apparently not that great if you’re NOT using match grade ammo, and I suspect it’s not quite sub-MOA with.

Good for shooting that $3 a round linked ball sga sells now n then

  • Ryan March 17, 2018, 10:49 pm

Great for home defense of your house and the other five around you.

Anybody that would pay that price probably does need a mental examination. Get real man . I could really use a good laugh so somebody go ahead and give me your explanation why it’s worth the price. Does the $375 mags have honing chips so you can find them in the dark

Have you ever priced replacement parts for a $100k-$200k-$500k car? $350 mags for a $10,000 is pretty par for the course. They really could have jacked the barrel assembly prices even more than $1,650. Especially since these are made-to-order. Bespoke.

Yeah, Allen just because you do not have that type of disposable income or chose not to take part in the hobby does not make those who do mentally ill. Honestly, if I could afford this weapon I would buy it. I love high-caliber target shooting it brings a new dynamic and skill requirement to the gun range. Much like exotic cars however you have to pay to play and if it is not your thing that is fine but do not knock others because it is theirs. That tells me you have a mental complex you need to deal with.

some years ago an American company created the first bullpup .50 BMG…at the time the Barret was getting a lot of attention in the news ….seems someone in the USA once again dropped the ball

    • Joe March 17, 2018, 4:49 am

Actually Barrett made a semi bullpup in the 90s, do your research.

        Yep, the glorious M82A2

        • Rand Dower December 2, 2021, 11:12 am

Yup great gun. I got to shoot one a few times. But the howitzer-style barrel action on this Lynx is sweet. I always loved growing up watching world war documentaries and seeing the artillery and 200mm cannons with recoiling barrels it is the coolest thing. Now I could own a gun with this action for the price of a small car. Which honestly does not even make me mad.

  • Haboob March 16, 2018, 2:08 pm

Actually I thought it’s kinda cute, which is irrelevant it’s how it preforms down range that counts
Also feel free to send me one with 1000rd for testing and evaluation

    You gotta be kidding?
NOTHING is uglier than an AK-47 and I’ll bet you have three or four!

  • Salty Dog March 16, 2018, 12:53 pm

Finally. The perfect “truck gun” for my up-armored Mini Cooper.

  • ERIC KNIGHT March 16, 2018, 9:02 am

THAT IS THE UGLIEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN THE ONLY WAY I WOULD HAVE THAT IS IF THEY GAVE IT TO ME AND THEN I WOULD MODIFY IT TO LOOK LIKE SOMETHING THAT RESEMBLES A GUN INSTEAD OF THE NIGHTMARE CONFIGURATION IT’S IN NOW

    • Fred March 16, 2018, 11:14 am

      U mad, bro?

    • Caliche March 16, 2018, 11:20 am

You’re just jelly since you are a broke dick that yells all the time.

    • Frank March 17, 2018, 9:52 am

      It’s beautiful in function.

  • flintman50 March 16, 2018, 8:09 am

Hah….simply put – Bad A**!…..That will make even the Rock crap in his pants…..

  • KenW March 16, 2018, 7:11 am

But it’s black and has a pistol grip — I’m afraid of it …
But I sure would like to shoot it !!

    • ejharb April 4, 2018, 10:54 pm

They should let that journalist who was traumatized by the ar15 shoot it.

  • Leighton Cavendish March 16, 2018, 5:10 am

Way too expensive for what it is and where it is made…but still pretty cool.

  • Steve in Detroit March 16, 2018, 3:24 am

$375 for a 5 round mag? I am in wrong business. I could produce a Tig welded quality mag for less than half and still make a profit. And make it a 10.

  • Dr Motown March 14, 2018, 7:58 am

Probably weighs about 30# loaded and scoped….perfect for “hunting”

    • Scott Jeffery March 16, 2018, 5:17 am

When you set up for gophers it’s not a big deal if your rifle is a little heavy. It’s packing 500 rounds for an afternoon of varmint removal that will wear you out! The nice thing with a .50 is that you don’t have to wait for a clear shot, a couple of rocks, or an engine block should not deflect the shot appreciably. Remember – there is nothing more dangerous than a wounded gopher!
