Gun Owners of America (GOA) believes it has uncovered a “massive” change in the way the ATF is treating FFLs.
GOA released documents last week that indicate the ATF, per President Biden’s mandate, is treating FFLs with a “zero tolerance” punitive framework for violations. It appears the goal is to shut down as many gun shops as possible, even for the smallest infractions.
Fox News Digital also reported on the story:
The guidance says the agency “has zero tolerance for willful violations that greatly affect public safety and ATF’s ability to trace firearms recovered in violent crimes” and that “revocation” of the FFL’s license “is the assumed action” with violations.
Per the internal docs, “revolution is the assumed action unless extraordinary circumstances exist, when violations are cited that include”
- Transferring a firearm “to a prohibited person knowing or having reasonable cause to believe the transferee is a prohibited person”
- Not running a background check on the prospective buyer
- “Making a false or fictitious written statement in the FFL’s required records or in applying for a firearms license”

“Joe Biden has weaponized the ATF against gun owners and the firearms industry in an attempt to violate the Second Amendment and expand his illegal gun registry,” observed Aiden Johnston, GOA’s director of federal affairs, in an interview with Fox News Digital.
“Rather than targeting those who display clear negligence and disregard for the law, ATF now revokes licenses without warning at the discovery of a first mistake by honest gun dealers,” Johnston said.
Johnston also warned of the growing gun registry ATF is amassing after the forced closure of FFLs.
“When Federal Firearms Licensees are forced out of business, ATF adds their records to its digital gun registry that has nearly a billion gun and gun owner records,” he explained. “GOA is already working with Second Amendment champions like Rep. Michael Cloud on Capitol Hill to address this alarming issue and eliminate this unconstitutional gun registry.”
Rep. Cloud introduced legislation last year to block ATF’s backdoor gun registry.

The gun industry needs to closely monitor this situation. Putting well-meaning gun stores out of business for paperwork errors or other simple mistakes is nothing more than a way to chill the 2A rights of law-abiding citizens. The ATF needs to be held in check. It’s gotta call off its dogs.

Virtually every rational argument that can be made has been made on both sides of this issue. Yet, the aggressive, insidious, irrational arguments and actions of gun banners persists. Since they will not listen to reason, a showdown is indicated and necessary. Nothing will stop this abuse of the inalienable right to bear arms short of a repeal of the 1934 NFA, the unconstitutional legislation that started it all. If you are not pressuring your elected officials to ‘Repeal the NFA,’ you are wasting your time.

The Federal Government is prohibited by law from creating a database (defacto gun registry) from FFLs’ current or retired records, yet it appears that they continue to do so. It works both ways. They, too, are required to obey the laws. I, like you, would that everyone endeavor to respect and obey our laws. Stay safe.

I’ll defer to the Dictionary (dot com) on this one – an assault rifle is a nonmilitary weapon modeled on the military assault rifle, usually modified to allow only semiautomatic fire. This is the second definition, which refers back to the first definition listed in that entry – a military rifle capable of both automatic and semiautomatic fire, utilizing an intermediate-power cartridge. I don’t know that the 5.56 NATO is all that intermediate of a cartridge, Jeff Cooper affectionately called it a “poodle shooter”. If you haven’t been around guns long, you should look up Jeff Cooper. Blue Dog, the definition you gave does not go for an assault rifle. Assault rifles have SELECTIVE FIRE. That means they can fire semi-auto or full auto by use of a selector switch. What you describe in your answer is a modern sport rifle, aka “those scary guns”.
