Gun-Control on the Move, Expanded Background Check Bills Sail Through House

Gun-Control on the Move, Expanded Background Check Bills Sail Through House
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Photo: Pelosi/Facebook).

Well, that didn’t take long.

Just a week or so after their introduction, the House of Representatives passed two key pieces of gun-control legislation: H.R. 8 and H.R. 1446.

The Bipartisan Background Checks Act (H.R. 8) is a universal background check bill that would criminalize private transfers.

Meaning, sales or transfers between anyone who is not immediately related would be outlawed.

In order to transfer or sell a firearm lawfully to another individual, the transaction would have to be facilitated via a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL).

The FFL would run a background check on the prospective buyer (or transferee).  Many FFLs charge fees for running background checks.

Failure to comply could result in criminal prosecution for both buyer and seller.

“This is the moment to act on gun safety, and that starts with background checks on all guns sales,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, in a press release obtained by GunsAmerica.

“Our grassroots army of nearly six million supporters is proud to stand behind Speaker Pelosi, Rep. Thompson, and gun safety champions in the House as they pass this bill with bipartisan support and overwhelming support from the American people,” she continued.

The Enhanced Background Checks Act of 2021 (H.R. 1446) would close the so-called “Charleston Loophole” by eliminating the policy that a firearm can be transferred to an individual if the FBI has not completed a background check within three days.

The bill gives the FBI a full 10 business days to complete a background check that has been delayed. Once those 10 days are up, a prospective buyer can petition for “escalated review to spur the FBI to complete its investigation.”

The sale may proceed if the escalated review has not been completed within an additional 10 business days, allowing the FBI to delay without reason a person’s Second Amendment rights for a full four weeks.

“We could have addressed this deadly loophole years ago, but then-Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stood with the NRA to block this bill from ever getting a vote on the Senate floor,” Watts said in reference to H.R. 1446. “Fortunately, there’s a new majority in the Senate –– and we look forward to working with that majority to pass this bill into law.”

Gun-rights groups were quick to condemn the news.

“Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi have never met a gun control proposal they didn’t immediately want to take to bed. Given the chance, they will rape our gun rights,” said Alan Gottlieb, the founder of the Second Amendment Foundation in an email to GunsAmerica.

Mark Oliva, the director of public affairs for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, offered a warning for what universal background checks portend: a national firearms registry.

“H.R. 8 does nothing to address the criminal misuse of firearms, but would put every law-abiding gun owner on a federal gun registry which is currently forbidden under federal law,” he told GunsAmerica.

“The firearm industry has grave concerns about our customers being profiled on government watchlists for simply exercising their fundamental Second Amendment right to purchase a firearm,” Oliva said.

Everytown for Gun Safety has repeatedly stated that background checks on all gun sales are its “top legislative priority.”  While it won’t publicly admit it, the truth is that universal background checks will be unenforceable and ineffective without a nationwide gun registration requirement.

Gun-rights advocates know this and gun-control advocates know this because (a) it’s plainly obvious (b) Democratic lawmakers recently introduced national gun licensing and registration legislation (H.R. 127), and (c) the Obama administration told us so in a government-funded analysis titled, “Summary of Select Firearm Violence Prevention Strategies,” authored by NIJ Deputy Director Greg Ridgeway.

The “Twitter Summary” from the document reads as follows (emphasis added), “Universal Background Checks: Effectiveness depends on the ability to reduce straw purchasing, requiring gun registration and an easy gun transfer process.”

Plainly stated, outlawing private transfers and giving the government more latitude to delay one’s fundamental right to keep and bear arms are only the tip of the iceberg of what the anti-gun Left has in store for the 2A.  As Shannon Watts confessed, this is where it “starts…”

Both bills now head to the Senate where Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has promised to bring them up for a vote.

“H.R. 8 will be on the (Senate) floor and we’ll see where everybody stands,” Schumer said Thursday during a press conference with Pelosi. “No more hopes and prayers.”

Stay tuned for updates.

Has anyone explained to Hollywood the impact HR.8 will have on the Action Movie industry? All Loans of weapons, even converted to blanks, will have to take place on authorized ranges? otherwise the ‘transfer’ will be illegal?

  • Ej harbet March 16, 2021, 5:22 pm

I want them to do this and more!
It’s way past time to settle this!
    Do it effers!

  • Alan March 16, 2021, 12:46 am

Well, no need to look any further for the ‘stop the steal’ idiots. They are here.

Funny how those same idiots think that ‘more gun laws’ won’t stop criminals from getting guns, but think border walls will somehow stop criminals from entering the US. Just sayin’.

  • Mark - IN. March 15, 2021, 10:54 am

There IS ONLY one nation, one people stopping One World Government, a New World Order…these United States Of America. Take away OUR firearms, disarm US and then there is nothing to stop their intended domination and takeover. They’ve already done so with Australia and the European Union. Now their aim is We The People, America. America and Americans ARE the ONLY thing stopping them. I pledge allegiance to God, my family, my friends, my nation, OUR Constitution. I owe absolutely nothing to the SWAMP, Washington DC or its current or future occupiers. Nothing at all to anyone at all, they are the enemy from within.

Die standing or die on our knees begging and pleading for mercy? As humans we will ALL die one day, so take a handful of tyrants or wanna be tyrants with each of us when we go…for OUR children and their children.

  • Ken March 15, 2021, 10:44 am

Pelosi is such a despicable creature. She doesn’t have a human cell in her body.

  • JonsOn March 15, 2021, 10:26 am

So far the house has passed nothing but bills that are either blatantly unconstitutional or will bankrupt our country. From taking election law away from state legislatures to these ridiculous gun bills that will do nothing to deter crime and in some cases increase it the house has put forth bills that will not pass constitutional muster by anyone who knows the constitution. As written these gun bills are not enforceable. That will mean they will have to put forward another bill causing gun registration. That in turn will lead to gun confiscation as crime will be rampant by all the things that the democrat party has done. Letting criminals out of jail and invoking no bail policies is all about creating more crime so they have an excuse to eventually take our guns and our other rights. If anyone is so stupid to think that the democrat party is doing things to make things better and safer need to pull thier head out of their rear end.

  • Mike Colorado March 14, 2021, 3:14 pm

They had everything planned from the stealing of the election to all of the dictator orders sitting on the desk in the oval office which took time to develop while President Trump was still in office, obviously done behind his back. There is a reason the fence and the military are surrounding the capital all part of the plan because they are not scared of the law or the constitution but they are scared of the public at large.

  • steve Hammill March 14, 2021, 1:47 pm

And America’s 75 million gun owners stand behind Pelosi too all cocked and locked 🙂

  • Vlad Tepes March 13, 2021, 7:54 pm

The Universal background check is long overdue and was originally part of the Brady Bill until it was at the last minute removed by the NRA.

States with lax laws funnel guns into States with tough gun laws letting any criminal or nut case buy all the firepower they want with no paperwork. Its complete insanity and all civilized nations have vetted all gun sales for decades and have been far more successful at reducing gun homicides.

The Chicago study proved that the average gun crime was not committed with stolen guns at all but with second hand guns that had passed through many hands. Also Police tracings proved the exact same thing in many other states.

Many Republicans also support Universal Background checks as they know the majority of the American people want this law passed so it is basically already a done deal.

    • KimberproSS March 15, 2021, 9:52 am

This sounds like a lot of conjecture vs. factual data. Actually is sounds like a page out of the Progressive liberal talking points.

    • KimberproSS March 15, 2021, 9:55 am

Oh, by the way, I have a friend that was an FBI agent in Chicago. He said 95% of the firearms they collect were stolen firearms. A Chicago study as compared to an agent on the ground with first hand information…Hum..

    • JonsOn March 15, 2021, 10:33 am

Boy have you been brainwashed Vlad. People who buy firearms with no paperwork are called criminals and these laws will do nothing to stop them. It’s all designed to create an unenforceable law so they have another excuse to implement gun registration. That will lead to complete confiscation. If you think that the democrats want a safe and secure society you are a complete brainwashed idiot. they want power and are on the same trajectory as Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Kim, Pol Pot, Chavez and Castro. The democrats call themselves progressives but what they really are is communist. This country has gotten by just fine without “universal background checks” for over two hundred years. It’s proven that the more law abiding citizens who possess firearms the more crime goes down. Just look at Chicago.

    • Kane March 15, 2021, 11:49 am

“at the last minute removed by the NRA.”

    • DELCO March 16, 2021, 9:37 am

VLAD you obviously have never purchased a firearm. We already have background checks . What Dems want is to expand the government, and make it easier for this new wave of Anti American democrats to take control over the lives of law abiding citizens. Look at what had happened in the first 60 days of the Biden presidency , sent thousands of hard working Americans to the unemployment line regarding the pipeline. Which is 100% political. Opened our borders which has caused child trafficking and waves of drug running at levels never seen . And a president who is not capable of holding a press conference because there is absolutely NO WAY Biden could answer real questions due to his diminished capacity. So why would anyone ever go along with new gun restrictions proposed by this Anti American administration? We have a culture and education issue in this country, not a gun issue. Don’t see people in the suburbs who have loads of guns shooting up their neighborhoods every day.

  • Mike March 13, 2021, 10:03 am

Michael Bloomberg bought and paid for the Democratic Party . Most billionaires buying sports franchises and islands this global elitist bought the Democrat party . And we know how he feels about our second amendment. Our constitution for that matter . I have a sticker on my gun safe it says gun control is not about guns it’s about control . People need to quit associating Democrats with socialist and progressives they are not they are communist!

  • Jim March 13, 2021, 8:17 am

DANG! That gavel is almo0st as big as Pelosi! When did she get that new extra large gavel? Right after the stolen election I’ll bet.

  • Jim March 13, 2021, 8:15 am

Disgusting! Elections have consequences folks and stolen elections have bigger consequences! I hope and pray that in 2022 when elections are again held that we get a fair election with honest vote count and we can reverse these Bills to something reasonable. These laws ONLY affect honest lawful people and will not stop or even slow down the criminal element from buying firearms on the streets. They are by definition ‘criminals’.

  • Carole McLaughlin March 12, 2021, 8:44 pm

As usual more ways to keep track of everything we do…….

  • MIKE OKELLY March 12, 2021, 3:33 pm

  • Janet Tomkins March 12, 2021, 1:35 pm

ONE STEP AT A TIME they are eliminating civilian ownership of firearms, and thereby eliminating self-defense for common folk. It’s ok for criminals (who ignore the laws) and illegal aliens (who Biden’s administration has exempted from the laws) to prey on the common folk. But if this becomes law, it will be illegal for you to own the tools to prevent them from preying on you. Once they totally defund the police and eliminate law enforcement it will be up to you to protect yourself, your family and your property and the Biden government is going to make sure that you are disarmed before then.

  • Stan d. Upnow March 12, 2021, 12:09 pm

“…as they pass this bill with bipartisan support and overwhelming support from the American people,”

“We could have addressed this deadly loophole( the so-called “Charleston Loophole”) years ago…”

So says Shannon Watts, another HUTA Leftist. She knows that 330 million Americans support this crap. She calls, without proof, the transfer of sale after 3 days “deadly” because hundreds have been murdered because of this “loophole.”
This woman is just an imbecile.

  • Shawn McManus March 12, 2021, 12:09 pm

“No more thoughts and prayers.” – Charles Schumer

That right there pretty much says it all. He’s thoughtless and the country hasn’t got a prayer.

    • dillon frey March 12, 2021, 2:11 pm

maybe because thoughts and prayers are useless, not just for stopping gun violence, but for doing anything at all.

  • Damon March 12, 2021, 11:51 am

Anyone who complies with these bills is a sheep. Our founding fathers kicked englands ass over this. Die on your feet or live on your knees

Destroying the Second Amendment, and much more in less then 6 weeks. Whats next on his EVIL list and he does this in God name

  • TIMOTHY HUNT March 12, 2021, 11:00 am

will all of the wealthy liberals, including Congress people, Senators and the Government come under these new proposed gun regulations or will they be exempted because of who they are?

  • Grant Stevens March 12, 2021, 10:51 am

Until the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution is repealed, every law, every executive order, every court ruling, every government regulation and every treaty that infringes on the unalienable right of law-abiding American citizens to keep and bear arms is null and void. “Shall not be infringed,” does not require “interpretation” by any politician, judge or government bureaucrat. It is the right and the duty of every patriot to resist such tyranny with non-compliance. What is needed is a force of Constitution guardians to arrest and remove from office any politician, any judge and any government agent who violates their oath of office to infringe upon the supreme law of the land. No compromise, no quarter. Sic semper tyrannis!

    • Foreverfree March 12, 2021, 2:33 pm

The place to start is by electing conservative reps with balls and who keep fighting until the end like Ted Cruz!

  • Mark March 12, 2021, 10:47 am

I think all of the Law Abiding Citizens in the US,NEED TO STAND UP, And be Counted!,to Protect and Preserve,OUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS!, And need to let Our Elected Representatives, KNOW,That they will Be Held ACCOUNTABLE IN THE next Election!, If they Vote In Favor of All of the (ANTIE GUN OWNERSHIP LEGISLATION!) ( that is Currently being PUSHED, BY,(The Known, (ANTIE GUN OWNERS ESTABLISHMENT, IN OUR COUNTRY!), Let Your (DEMOCRATIC REPS KNOW THIS IN NO ON-CERTAIN TERMS!) God Bless America!, and All Law Abiding Citizens In this Country!

    • Old Curmudgeon March 12, 2021, 8:01 pm

We can threaten them all we want with our votes, but they don’t care….they just continue with their election fraud and know they’ll be reelected anyway!! Time to stand up to the tyranny and the first step is noncompliance with these unconstitutional gun grabs!!!

  • PB- dave March 12, 2021, 10:26 am

So how do these people get elected ? A good part is Union support, sadly the Union rank and file get dumped on repeatedly by their politicians and they keep supporting them because ” my Union told me to…”

  • Michael Boyd March 12, 2021, 10:25 am

How soon can we expect the NRA to file a law suit with the Supreme Court?

  • Erwin Lang March 12, 2021, 9:42 am

Another backdoor effort to deny our constitutional rights. One of the first things socialists do when in power is to try to limit citizens ability to protect themselves. If allowed, this would only be a first step towards confiscation of firearms by the federal government.

  • SPARKSTER March 12, 2021, 9:22 am

Well….this is what the dems have wanted for a long time. Folks let me tell you something . If you don’t want to see more of this. We need to take a stand and fix the election process. One day is all we really need to vote. The American public ought to know who’s the president the morning after we vote. Absentee ballots should be filled out, sent in, and after your vetted, then get a ballot sent back to you to vote. WE MUST GET THIS STRAIGHTENED OUT !!!!!!!!!!! Our second amendment depends on it. Never thought I’d see this in America.

    • Rattlerjake March 12, 2021, 10:31 am

You can’t blame all of this on the left, you can blame yourself too! Every American who has kowtowed to the federal and state government mandates for background checks, NFA permits, handgun purchase permits (like NC), and conceal carry permits, added ammunition and weapon configuration restrictions (like CA, NJ), has given the left support for their continued gun control BULLSIIT! This also goes to all of the F00LS who have continued to support the NRA while La Pierre has robbed the coffers and compromised with the left. Pat yourselves on the back for it coming to this! I, for one, have NEVER filled out an ATF form, paid for a permit, or kowtowed to their anti-constitution mandates, just as I have refused from day one to abide by a single requirement of their covid lies. And for all of you asshats who support law enforcement “100%”, guess who will be ENFORCING this crap? The problem with the ‘right’ is that they NEVER actually take a stand if there is risk of fines, jail, or death, instead lets keep whining and complaining; just like happened when Ohomo was illegally “put” in office (twice), how we still have the same mail-in and electronic fraud voting system, and how Slow Joe and Kameltoe are illegally in office and we’ve done NOTHING!

      • Rattlerjake March 12, 2021, 10:41 am

Let me also add that it is also the fault of the gun and ammo manufacturers who take advantage of the people and jack up prices as soon as one of these leftist dirtbags gets in office or gun control legislation looks like it is going to pass. If these manufacturers were so pro-2d amendment, they should be making more guns and ammo and lowering prices so we could buy, buy, buy. It only proves that greed overrules everything else.

Our founding fathers tried, but “WE” have let them, GOD, and ourselves down!

    • Stan d. Upnow March 12, 2021, 12:15 pm

Have you read what’s in that HR-1 that was rammed through Congress and about to be signed into law by Dementia Joe? It snuffs all of your proposals. The Progressive-Socialists will now take every election going forward.
Good-bye, America, it was nice to have known ya.

  • Griffendad March 12, 2021, 9:04 am

Because they think Leroy and Tyrone are going to stop and have each other’s background checked as they hand out the stolen weapons for the next BLM reparations free-for-all and fund raiser.
Save the last slug for yourself.

    • El Zorro March 12, 2021, 12:52 pm

      True that Griffendad!

  • Jack March 12, 2021, 9:02 am

I assume that the loophole slowing things up for the gun grabbers is the second amendment of the United States Constitution.

  • Ronnie March 12, 2021, 9:01 am

Treason nothing short of treason, anybody signs this bill should be brought up on treason and removed from government it’s that simple

    • Tina Roberts March 12, 2021, 1:55 pm

In your mind it may be that simple. Look at the last election. It seems the majority of law enforcement, the investigative agencies (the FBI and state equivalents), local, state and federal officials (attorney generals, secretaries of state, mayors, governors, etcetera), legislators (state and federal), and the judicial system (local, state and federal including SCOTUS (except Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito)) seem to be blatantly ignoring fraud, corruption and outright criminality regarding the election corruption which was against the constitution and against state and federal laws. So … when they ‘see no evil’ who ya gonna call?

  • its1969ok March 12, 2021, 8:52 am

It’s not gun control, it’s rights control. Too bad nobody is ever punished for violating their oath to uphold the Constitution.

  • Jorge A Garcia March 12, 2021, 8:08 am

AHHH! COME GUYS, YOU KNOW THIS IS RIGHT FOR AMERICA!!! I have already talked to a bunch of criminals and they said this is a great idea, I feel safer already knowing that the next asshole I shoot trying to hold me up is doing it with a properly bought gun that the buyer, whoever the fuck it could be passed a background check, you guys just cant see it, or are too dumb to appreciate what this old goat is doing for us. AHHH relief at last, I think I can actually stop carrying and throw away all my guns!

  • Larry C March 12, 2021, 7:59 am

I was a Commisioner at a voting precinct. I know of many conservative minded folks that failed to vote in the last election. I asked them why they had not voted. The usual reply, “I was so sure that Trump and the Republicans would win that I did not go. I had other things to do.”
Nearly 30% of Americans did not vote. Now we have this. All you who did not vote, SHUT UP! You have no say!

    • Stan d. Upnow March 12, 2021, 12:34 pm

You think that’s the only reason the subversives were able to steal the election?

      How about this:

My turn in line at the polling place. “Here’s my Voter Registration Card,” I say to the poll worker.
“Don’t need that,” he says. “Well, what about my Driver’s License?” I ask. “No,” he replies.
“Aren’t you going to verify my signature?” I ask. He just yells, “Next!”

I could have just arrived as a “tourist” from China and voted. Now you might get a clue as to what happened in 2020. BTW, I received 6 UNSOLICITED request forms for mail-in ballots. I complained to my elected reps. about that and never got a response. And they’re all Republicans. Get the picture?

  • John March 12, 2021, 7:59 am

  • Fal Phil March 12, 2021, 7:24 am

We need to start having serious talks about secession.

It doesn’t make sense to live under a regime that tramples on human rights.

    • Stan d. Upnow March 12, 2021, 12:36 pm

Not secession; Convention of the States.

      • David Earnst March 12, 2021, 2:04 pm

The elites have done their best to make the convention of states sound scary. I have heard so many lies about it I can’t count that far. Folks don’t read the constitution and it’s not taught in schools any more. Even most lawyers only know the interpretations of their professors, not actually what it say.
In all honest, you are precisely correct. The situation we are in is exactly why the founding fathers wrote the convention of states into the constitution. It could cure the worst problems we have with this government but it would probably take years and the country may not exist that long.

      • Fal Phil March 16, 2021, 3:59 pm

No, secession is the right thing to do. After all, stupid people need a place to live too.

    • deanbob March 12, 2021, 8:55 am

We can thank the spineless Republicans who ignored and/or refused to investigate all of the ballot and election fraud. I watched days of every swing states’ legislative sessions of people presenting their testimony, most backed with affidavits sworn under penalty of perjury; and it was obvious there were significant problems that only 2 courts would listen to – the rest refused to even LISTEN to the evidence when they threw out all of the cases using BS reasons – including the US Supreme Court. Justice Clarence Thomas was absolutely right that the SCOTUS shirked its responsibility on more than 1 case by refusing to hear the evidence.
The only good news is that Arizona ad other states are fighting to conduct forensic audits on the ballots and the voting machines. And other lawyers are still working tirelessly to gather as much evidence of fraud in the hope that something may be done.

    • deanbob March 12, 2021, 9:11 am

I believe President Trump’s lawyers and other lawyers who worked on the ballot and voter fraud issues when they say Trump actually received possibly more than 80m votes. Is Biden really more popular than Obama? Of course not. How many major cities/counties did Biden get more votes than Obama? Atlanta, Clarke County, Detroit, Maricopa County, Milwaukee, and Philadelphia – all major cities in the swing states where the ballot and elect fraud allegations are! Did Biden get more votes than Obama in NYC, Miami, or Chicago? No.

Mike Lindell has been served by Dominion for libel/slander. Now Mike will be able to get “DISCOVERY” of of all related Dominion information. Mike Lindell (MyPillow) is spending his own money to prove the election fraud. There are still other cases in the courts as well. Stay tuned and keep the faith fellow patriots.

    • Stan d. Upnow March 12, 2021, 12:49 pm

Yes, the “morons who voted for them” ARE getting just what they wanted…… Freebies!
Illegals were allowed to vote. Now, they’re getting $$thousands$$ in “stimulus” checks.
Free education and free healthcare are right around the corner. Why wouldn’t they vote for them?
The Progressive-Socialists have known this for decades. Why blacks are such a reliable part of their base.

    • Eric March 12, 2021, 9:09 am

Let me ask you this, Rob: Do you feel like saying “these dems” should be killed is a compelling argument that you should be allowed to continue to own guns? Do you feel like talking about murdering people who disagree with you demonstrates what a reasonable and normal person you are?

      • Rob March 12, 2021, 10:17 am

First off: you’re a moron. These dems are violating our constitutional rights. Our founding fathers would’ve hung or shot un-American garbage like these dems. I swore an oath as a veteran to protect the constitution against enemies foreign and domestic. The radical left has talked about eliminating republicans for the past 5 years. So yes, I would eliminate these dems by hanging them or have them face a firing squad.

Socialist DemonRats will stripe Americans of their Rights. and Dictatorship soon to follow. Arm up America, a revolution soon to follow.

That’s exactly right. These people hate the constitution and the liberties it provides. First it is 2A, because it’s a easy target, then the other amendments. They will tell you it will save lives, but it won’t. The criminals are not buying ther guns legally- you would have to a total idiot to think that. The threat is real, people. And it’s not just the guns, it the right being taking away. Who are these people who think they know what is best for the rest of us enough to reverse our constitution that has stood for 250 years? And don’t forget, these people have armed security that travel with them paid for by our tax dollars. But they want to take away our right to protect ourselves! We need to be pissed off! Bombard all your representatives with emails, letters and phone and tell them they will be voted out if they support these bills. This is supposed to be government by and for the People, not a bunch of old out of touch assholes who think they know what’s best for us and want to control us and force us to rely on them. Limiting legal gun ownership will not prevent crime. If fact, if every law abiding citizen carried, crime would disappear. Think about it.

  • Michael A. Brodine March 12, 2021, 6:43 am

Criminals, gang bangers, mentally ill, terrorist use guns to do crime against citizens (legal gun owners and non owners) so Biden, Pelosi and Schumer want to regulate gun owners already complying with law. Stupid is regulating law abiding gun owners, making it difficult to own or impossible to own guns and turning criminals out on society early and shutting down police..

    • Lon March 12, 2021, 8:55 am

It’s not stupid, it’s by design. Scare the sheep into giving up their rights for a false sense of security. History has shown that the best way to lessen crime is to have stiffer punishment for offenders. The dems fight stiffer punishments at every turn. They want chaos, it helps them gain power from the weak.

Just the beginning! This must stop in the Senate. Trouble is because of the even split of Dems and Repubs, Harris will be deciding the vote! We know her vote will be a Yea.

    • Anthony Romano March 15, 2021, 7:13 am

They need at least 60 votes in the Senate, just sayin’…..

I purchased a Ruger Wrangler yesterday at Dunham’s and I swear it took 45 minutes to complete the process to purchase the firearm from filling out the forms to the sales person escorting me out the door and handing my pistol to me. And on top of that, when I paid for it, the cashier took my driver’s license and entered a whole bunch of information into their system (database?). It is my understanding that gun sellers are not supposed to store purchaser information for longer than a certain time and I challenged the cashier about that, but of course I got the “Its Dunham’s company policy” bs. I noticed that Dunhams had a fairly large number of pistols and long guns available to purchase and I am wondering if their policies governing firearm purchases are’t discouraging law abiding citizens from buying from Dunham’s. I’ll probably think twice before purchasing another firearm from Dunham’s again. Oh! and the US house of Representative just passed H.R. 8 and H.R. 1446, Welkom to what used to be America-Land of the FREE and home of the BRAVE!

The only thing the FFL (retailer) is required by the federal government to keep is the form 4473 for 20 years.

      • Michael Boyd March 12, 2021, 9:26 am

I assume then that there is nothing ‘illegal’ about Dunham’s from putting my personal info in their database and my only option is not buy firearms from Dunham’s.

  • Roger March 12, 2021, 6:00 am

Do not let the SOBs that know nothing about guns to make any more progress to restrict our rights and freedoms as law abiding citizens. Write to elected people in Washington to tell them no, and write often. We need to make a concerted effort against them, because that is what they are doing to us.

  • Recce1 March 12, 2021, 5:27 am

Enough is enough. It’s time for a lawsuit to go to the SCOTUS to EXEGETICALLY enforce the 2nd Amendment as the Framers intended. If an individual wants to buy a FULLY AUTOMATIC weapon WITHOUT government permission or to carry concealed WITHOUT a permit, SO BE IT.

For public safety, modified laws of nations like Indonesia. Carry a weapon to a crime, get 5 years in prison. Shoot a weapon in a crime, get 10 to 20 years. Wound a person during a crime, get 20 to life. No paroles. Murder a person, get the death penalty.

Make sure perpetrators get fair trials with competent lawyers. Also, if police, detectives, lab techs, prosecuting attorneys, or judges plant, manufacture, falsify, or withhold exculpatory evidence, make them face the penalties their intended victims faced, up to and including death.
