Magpul Pro 700 Long Action Chassis – SHOT Show 2019

Innovation is practically Magpul’s middle name and they have been branching out into the precision rifle arena for the past couple of years, guided by some of the best in the business.  Targeting precision rifle competitors and those that just want one of the very best chassis that you can get, the Magpul Pro 700 chassis is now available for long action Remington 700 and clone actions.

This chassis is a bit hefty, weighing in at 5.6 pounds mainly because much of the chassis is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum so you know it can stand up to whatever mountain you want to throw it off of.  The aluminum body, forend, and adjustment knobs are Type III hard-coat anodized to protect it from the elements and general roughhousing.

MLOK slots are machined into the aluminum forend at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions in the forend so that you attach accessories like rails, sling mounts, or covers.  Injection molded polymer body panels clad the outside of the aluminum skeleton to give it an edgy, refined look while also providing a comfortable surface for the shooter to grip.

Now speaking of grips, the Pro 700 chassis comes with a small and large grip that can be switched out by the end user so that it better fits their hand when in position.  Not only can you change out grips for comfort but you can slide the grips back and forth so that you can perfectly position your finger on the trigger for maximum consistency and improved accuracy.

The chassis is very adjustable, allowing for almost 2” of length of pull adjustment, plenty of cheek height adjustment, almost 2.25” of up and down movement for the recoil pad, and 5 degrees of cant in either direction.   I can’t imagine anyone not being able to get set up comfortably behind this chassis.  The large hole in the back of the stock is to allow just about any aftermarket bolt knob to pass through uninterupted when you fold the stock over.  A unique feature to the Pro 700 chassis is that it is fully ambi-capable meaning that just taking out a some screws you can easily convert the chassis to a right or left handed rifle.  The chassis utilizes a AICS compatible detachable magazine system and comes with one 5-rd long action Magpul magazine.

The Pro 700 will be available in Black, FDE, and OD.  MSRP for the fixed stock version is $899.99 and the folder is $999.99. Expect these to start shipping in about three weeks at the time of this writing.

“Edgy, refined look”, in other words, a block of aluminum with plastic parts attached. This is dog ugly and heavy. Better choices out there.

Who buys Remington since Freedom Group bought and cheapened the ” Big Green”? My 2014 Versamax was sent for repairs the day I bought it. Haven’t shot it yet and can’t recoup my $1100.00.
