High-Quality Over/Under 20 Gauge Shotgun from Silver Eagle (Only $599) – SHOT Show 2019

Riley Baxter SHOT Show 2019

Silver Eagle is a firearms manufacturer in Turkey that is partnered with TR Imports to bring high-quality and affordable firearms to the U.S. market.  New for 2019 is the Light Super 20 gauge.  With a price point of $599, buyers are getting a lot of high-end features.

The Light Super is just as ergonomic as it is attractive. Best of all, the $599 price point is a steal for the features that are packed into this gun.

The Light Super 20 gauge is made specifically to be, well, lightweight and durable. Most shotguns (double barrel variety) that are in the sub $600 range come with an aluminum receiver which compromises strength in this very vital area. The Light Super is able to maintain it’s light weight and remain strong because of its steel alloy receiver. This shotgun is in the 5-pound range, which is perfect for long walks on upland game hunts.

The Light Super comes standard with auto-ejectors that only kick out the spent shell.

Additional features that impressed me include an auto ejector that only kicks out spent shells, five chokes that range from full to cylinder, a real walnut stock, and a fiber optic sight on a raised rib. All of these are things that you would see on a more expensive shotgun, but because Silver Eagle and TR Imports are full partners, we are able to access this gun for a very affordable price.

The Light Super uses a single trigger to operate both barrels. As is the norm, the safety selector is involved in selecting the order in which the barrels fire. The safety is operated in the forward and back directions, forward being “fire” and back being “safe.” To select which barrel fires first, there is another selector on the safety which can be slid from side to side. This is a solid design that can be operated quickly and easily in a hunting scenario.

The safety on the Light Super also features a barrel selector for easy operation.

I enjoyed operating the Light Super 20 gauge at SHOT Show. The gun is light, swings fast and is ergonomic. The trigger is short and breaks clean. Overall, this is a shotgun that I think many people would love to have in their collection be they a hunter or competitive shooter or both. TR Imports should have this shotgun available for purchase in 2-3 months, so watch for it.

Save your money and buy a Ruger Red Label. I would not allow anything from Turkey in my gun safe.

Sir, you are fortunate in that you can afford expensive Brand Name firearms. Once in a while as we go through life our accepted system of, money equals ( Quality and performance ) , there are however instances and/or exceptions to the rule. Having read about and looked at the silver eagle “Super light” shotgun, it seems that this shotgun is a good quality product for the money. I would wager that Mr. Tom Knapp could could earn your respect for this product in just a short time.

Like the Ruger, the barrels are separate (unlike Browning or Beretta) so they avoid the manufacturing problems of aligning them and can produce them cheaper than a set of joined barrels.

I bet the guys at Browning were super thrilled to see this.
