Taurus is adding a new model to their growing line of G3 pistols, the G3XL. Chambered for 9mm Luger, the G3XL combines a compact frame with a full-size slide for a longer sight radius, improved practical accuracy, and greater muzzle velocities.

The compact frame can be used with flush-fitting 12-round magazines, standard 15-round mags with a grip sleeve, or extended grip sleeve 17-round magazines. This way shooters don’t have to compromise on capacity when selecting a pistol with a smaller frame for concealability.

Like many of the most popular options for everyday carry, the G3XL is a polymer-framed, striker-fired pistol, but optimized for concealment, with a contoured frame and dehorned slide to reduce snagging on clothes and holsters.

Even with the longer 4-inch barrel and slide assembly, the G3XL is relatively lightweight at just under 25 ounces unloaded. As with other newer versions of the G3, the G3XL is compatible with many Glock sight patterns and is launching without a manual thumb safety.

The G3XL, of course, has a passive trigger safety, in addition to its internal drop safety and a loaded chamber port. The curved, serrated trigger is restrike-capable, too.

Other features include a textured frame with a standard accessory rail, index finger memory pads, and low-profile magazine and slide release controls. The slide has front and rear serrations and comes standard with steel sights with a white dot front sight and serrated rear sight.

The barrel is stainless steel and the slide has a matte black Tenifer finish for wear and corrosion resistance.

The G3XL is a straightforward design, and just like other G3 pistols, its biggest selling point is its price. The G3XL has a list price of only $342, which means real-world and online pricing should be around $300 or less.

Spare magazines are affordably priced as well, at around $36. Ten-round magazines are available where necessary.
