Donald J. Trump, Ted Nugent, Kid Rock and Sarah Palin. Unlikely bedfellows?
Hardly, they’re all “mavericks” in their own right, renegades against convention wisdom, traditional social mores, and the current P.C.-police state that controls the media.
Well, this fearsome foursome apparently had dinner Wednesday at the White House. Since “The Nuge” has become somewhat of a de facto ambassador (actually, he does sit on the NRA board of directors, so maybe he is more of an “official ambassador”) for hunters, sportsmen, and 2A advocates, I was curious to see what he would have to say about meeting president Trump.
Rumblings in the 2A community have suggested that Trump is doing all he can to expand 2A rights via his executive power. While these efforts haven’t yielded much fruit just yet, the belief is that the goodies are on their way, e.g. 86,000 M1 Garands from the Philippines.
Nuge didn’t mention the Garands, but he did double down on the narrative that Trump is pro-2A and pro-hunting.
“With sons who hunt, the President is very aware of the misguided, anti-science and anti-hunting laws and regulations perpetrated by power abusing bureaucrats infesting our states and nation,” said Nugent in a blog post on DeerandDeerHunting.com. “I would say that the prognosis for hunter’s rights has never been better for the future of hunting, fishing and trapping in America, I assure you.”
Uncle Ted went on to describe Trump’s larger viewpoint as it relates to his approach to governing from the oval office.
“We discussed various quality of life issues and how entrenched status quo political correctness has wrecked everything it has touched and how his administration is focused and dedicated to get back to the US Constitutional basics of government of, by and for the people,” said Nugent.
“President Trump summed it up when he humbly and proudly stated that he works for ‘we the people’ and he will not let us down,” he continued.
That refrain “I won’t let you down,” is not new. It’s been present in his speeches since he won over the NRA and other pro-gun organizations last year. It would seem that Trump understands that many hunters and gun owners have been lied to and screwed over in the past. Let’s hope he keeps his promise.
