Charges Revoked! Video Evidence Vindicates Concealed-Carrying Mother and Son in Cook County Shooting

Defensive Use of Firearms This Week

Murder charges against Carlisha Hood, 35, and her 14-year-old son have been dismissed by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office (CCSAO) in connection with a fatal shooting in a West Pullman restaurant.

The pivotal decision follows the emergence of video evidence showing the victim assaulting Hood before her son fatally shot him.

Hood and her son had been facing first-degree murder charges for the death of 32-year-old Jeremy Brown, who was killed during an altercation at the Maxwell Street Express on June 18.

Besides the murder charge, Hood, a valid holder of the FOID card and concealed carry license at the time of the incident, had also been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, reports CBS News.

However, in light of the newly surfaced video evidence and following an exhaustive review, the CCSAO concluded that it could not uphold the burden of proof necessary for prosecution.

The charges against Hood and her son were subsequently dismissed.

CBS 2 Legal Analyst, Irv Miller, offered his perspective on the case, pointing out, “You have the right to use deadly force to stop that force against another person, and that’s exactly what happened in this case, and that’s exactly why the state’s attorney’s office dropped this case today.”

Miller was critical of the original decision to file murder charges.

“This goes beyond an injustice. Frankly, it’s a miscarriage of justice as to what happened to this woman and her son,” he explained. “It’s a situation where either the charges should have been rejected, or at the very minimum they should have been continued for investigation, rather than just, you know, say, ‘Okay, murder charge. Send them to court.'”

This case, underscored by its reversal, emphasizes the rigorous evaluation needed in criminal proceedings and the importance of solid evidence in deciding charges.

It also highlights the critical role of 2A rights, specifically the right to bear arms in public, in America.

Another DA in the mold of Thomas BingBonger the ADA who charged Kyle Rittenhouse with murder for defending his life. If a DA or ADA brings charges against a person and loses a trial they should then be the ones going to prison. An over zealous prosecutor shouldn’t be allowed to screw up innocent people’s lives so they can put a feather in their cap. Kyle Rittenhouse was very lucky to have survived the night he had to take a couple lives. If just one thing had gone different he may have been killed. I wonder if Thomas Binger would have charged the person who killed Kyle with murder or would he let them slide as they’re on the same side as Binger.

Charged because, how dare they use a firearm in self defense from a brutal attack which goes against the anti-gun agenda in Chicago. No investigation. Just charge them and $3 million dollar bail? If the attacked had killed one of them, probably would have no bail, just remember to come to court when we can schedule you. The only justice in this case was the attacker being shot and the charges dropped.

That fella’ needed shootin’. Never should have been charged. Notice the other “brave” citizens running away instead of helping. Good shooting young man.

Concealed carry holder immediately charged with murder but if the dirtbag attacking them would have killed them both he would have had a no bail release and back out on the streets with no or minimal charges. This is how you destroy a country and make no mistake: this is the agenda.
