Christmas Gifts for that Special Lady

As a woman who shoots and carries concealed daily, I have a unique perspective about what gifts the special woman in your life might enjoy.

You Can Never Go Wrong With a Gun!

First of course is a firearm and make it concealed carry model! I personally carry a SIG P365. SIG Sauer offers the P365 SAS as the perfect everyday real-world concealed carry. It has a 10+1 round magazine capacity, day/night bullseye sights, and a sleek flush design to be snag-free. This pistol will bring your gal confidence by being compact enough to conceal in a purse, bag, or on her body. Plus it’s comfortable to shoot which means she’ll enjoy it. Price is around $600.

“As with the first comment, carrying in a purse would seem like the last place you would want to carry, unless you see it coming. I would also think carrying in a purse without a slide safety would be rather dangerous considering the amount of stuff moving around inside, in my opinion.”

I understand your concern, but it can be done safely with the right training and preparation. The way my wife dresses there’s really no way for her to carry on-body. So she carries in her shoulder bag in a separate compartment that only holds her gun. She swears by her Beretta 92, which she carries loaded with one in the chamber, decocked, safety off. The DA pull for the first shot is stiff enough that there is really no danger of an ND. She’s quick on the draw from her purse, shoots very well, and after the first DA pull, the rest are SA if she needs a follow-up shot. Trust me, it works very well. And no, she isn’t one of those who puts her bag in the shopping cart.

I have never understood the CC purse. Many times the purse contents are what a criminal is after and they wait for the best instance to grab and run. Of course I know it is a challenge to conceal a firearm with certain fashions especially in the summer but that has to be weighed against the potential of losing a firearm.

I was thinking the same thing. A few years ago, I have seen a training video on the internet about pepper spray, in which a woman was suddenly attacked by a thief, who tried to grab the bag from her, while she struggled to keep the bag on her with one hand and tried to grab the pepper spray with the other hand right out of that very bag the thief was coming for. As it was just a training video this actually worked, but I hardly doubt that this would turn out good in a real and non-scripted situation. According to my opinion, the best way is and will always be to carry your gun somewhere at your body, but never in your bag, although I also agree with you that carrying concealed during the hot summer days can be quite a problem, especially with large guns, like my beloved Colt 1911, which was even one of the reasons why I have bought myself a Glock 17 as well, which I can carry concealed much easier in summer.

Is there a bodyware carry that she would recommend for larger woman?
