Exotac has made basically every accessory that has to do with fire: flint and steel, tinder kits, storm matches and many other items. At SHOT Show 2019, Exotac announced that they are branching out into other areas by launching the RipSPOOL. This new product is survival-focused with features that will help a person out in a pinch.
The RipSPOOL is small and compact but carries much more than meets the eye.
The RipSPOOL is small, easily fitting in a pocket or hanging from a keychain. The purpose of this product is to provide survival tools that can be kept on the person conveniently and at all times. Included in the RipSPOOL is 50 feet of duct tape, 60 feet of 30-pound test braided fishing line, a #16 sail needle and a 550 Firecord lanyard that can be used as tinder or in a field repair. This product also has a hollow waterproof vessel on the inside that can be used to store any number of things.

The RipSPOOL only weighs 4-5 ounces and can be used in a pinch in many ways. You can use the needle as a compass if you were to keep a small piece of cork and a magnet in the inside. All you would have to do is open it up, magnetize the needle and float it on some water using the cork. Also, a person could keep a small hook and weight on the inside and use the RipSPOOL for fishing in a tight pinch.
You can store almost anything inside the waterproof vessel that can improve chances of survival in a bad situation.
Basically, the uses of Exotac’s RipSPOOL are endless as well as customizable by the end user. Things can go South no matter where you are, whether it is at home, hunting, fishing, hiking or during any other activity. In a situation where SHTF, I would want this product on me so I could make it through in the best possible way with some equipment to make life easier.

I was in the army for 22yrs….I have had knees/crotches rip out…..this idea is a great one…..trust me….you realize how important it is when it happens to you! And if you spend a lot of time in the woods…..it will happen to you!
Buy one of those keychain pill bottles at Harbor Freight or the like and wrap duct tape around it. Just saved about $27.95
I agree with the previous comments seems that it’s under engineered and overpriced.
Gee. Seems like an old film canister will do the same thing for nothing dollars.
Kind of hard to imagine a survival aid that does not contain a fire starting method, I realize the 550 can be used as tinder but a spark creating tool wold be a good idea, maybe more important than a needle. For survival a curved needle might be best for wound suturing in a true survival method.
Just my thoughts.
Love your product, RipSpool. Can you make a variant that holds a jag, several segments of cleaning rod, patches and a tube of cleaner and lube to spot-clean and oil a pistol?
Because I’ll buy five of those right now. For Valentine’s Day. Or somesuch.
