One suspect is dead with two more on the run in Tennessee after they attempted to break into a home earlier this week.
Midnight Invasion
Police responded to a home early Tuesday morning after reports of a home invasion. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said they found one suspect dead on the scene.
According to reports, it was shortly after midnight when three armed intruders entered the home. According to WDEF, the homeowner confronted the suspects.
The homeowner and intruders shot at each other, and one of the intruders was hit by the homeowner. He died there in the home, where police found him.
Suspects On the Run
The other two suspects got away. According to HSCO, they “jumped through a window to escape and fled the scene.”
Among the official personnel who arrived on the scene were SWAT members and a K-9 unit. A drone patrol searched the area but the two suspects are still on the run.
Sheriff Austin Garrett told the crew of NewsChannel9 that the neighborhood shouldn’t worry about their safety.
“The identities of those involved are being withheld pending further investigation,” the sheriff’s office said.
The investigation is ongoing, with the police interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence. They posted on X, the social media platform, asking neighbors to volunteer any surveillance videos that might show footage of the crime.
They are specifically looking for cars they could tie to the two suspects on the run.
Details are limited because this is an active case.
Two Nights In a Row
The homeowner does appear to have escaped unharmed. He told NewsChannel9 his home had been broken into the night before as well.
He was understandably shaken up by the turn of events. The homeowner made sure the news would not be releasing his name for safety purposes.

Neighbors who were interviewed by local news expressed shock. They had felt the area was safe, “still can’t believe it happened not once, but twice in a row.”
According to NewsChannel9, police think this type of situation is rare for the area.
It’s conceivable that anyone in such a situation would be shaken up and would try to defend themselves, particularly when facing a repeat intrusion.

While it does not happen every time, but in many cases like this, a bonafide self defense shooting, the attacker/criminal now becomes the ‘victim’ and the family sues the person who shot, or shot and killed their precious little illegitimate kid that never hurt anybody or did anything wrong, he just had his wild side.
