Springfield XD-M Elite OSP Tactical FDE 9mm
Springfield Armory’s new 9mm XD-M Elite OSP Tactical sets a new standard in performance and features from a factory striker-fired pistol. Starting with their proven XD-M model, Springfield has refined and upgraded nearly each part of the pistol. It’s optics ready, suppressor ready, has a new Match Enhanced Trigger Assembly (META) system, suppressor height sights, a flared magwell, and more. The XD-M Elite OSP Tactical is prepared for any situation straight from the box. Currently, there are 4 different XD-M Elite models, all in 9mm, with barrel lengths ranging from 3.8” to 5.25”. The OSP Tactical version is offered in FDE and black, while the others are only offered in black. It comes standard with a soft sided pistol case, interchangeable backstraps for that custom fit, 2 x 22-round magazines, additional flush fitting baseplates, optics mounting plates, and a standard gun lock.
Blacked out steel sights sit on top of the forged steel slide. They are suppressor height and feature a tactical rack ledge. Suppressor height sights allow you to see over the suppressor and allows you to co-witness with your red dot. A tactical rack ledge gives you the ability to manipulate the slide (on clothing or a stationary object) one-handed in the event of an injury. The Tactical model sports a Melonite coated, match-grade, hammer forged, 5.28” threaded barrel with a 1:10 twist rate and ½ x 28 thread pitch. A horizontally serrated thread protector comes with the barrel and keeps threads safe and clean. Melonite coatings are extremely durable and wear resistant.
The steel forged slide has been factory Cerakoted in Desert FDE and comes optics ready. Springfield enlarged the front and rear slide serrations and provide positive traction in all conditions. The top of the slide features a loaded chamber indicator that rises above the slide for visual and physical confirmation the gun is loaded. There’s also a striker indicator on the back plate to verify the pistol is cocked and ready to fire. Springfield provides several different red dot mounting plates for the Vortex Venom, Burris Fastfire, Leupold DP/DP Pro, Jpoint MRD, and the Trijicon RMR.
Melonite coated internals and a single piece full length guide rod are housed by the Desert FDE Polymer frame. Both the slide and magazine release are fully ambidextrous and easy to use. The grip features Springfield’s popular grip safety. The grip has an enhanced grip pattern that keeps the gun in place while remaining comfortable to hold. A standard picatinny rail at the front of the frame allows for accessory use. The base of the grip features an enlarged magwell for rapid reloads and can be removed.
At the core of the new Elite series is the updated META system featuring a flat face trigger with blade safety and integral overtravel stop. The META delivers a crisp break and reset that results in one of the best factory triggers found in a polymer-framed pistol.

By the end of 2019 I would never have believed I might even consider a pistol that had a 22 round magazine and so many functioning, valued bells and whistles but by July 2020 the marxists have changed all of that, what have we come to & where are we headed?

We have numbers “1.2.4.8.” along with letters “B,C,G,I,O,R,U, and Y” to represent single words and those are just 4 starters. Latest count is over 650 web born acronyms, so many now that there is a separate dictionary just to “spell” them out for U!! This old man has a hard time simply figuring out what all of the cryptic mumbo jumbo really means.
What’s wrong with a Make, Model, for a new firearm and maybe a nickname to satisfy those who have to name everything including their underwear??
And no, I didn’t take the time to read the hype on this new XM yet, I figured I would give my Stevie a good flushing and go downstairs and rustle up some brekkie first before getting caught up in things this morning. Oh yeah, and Barrett has to go out and drain his doggie thing also ……. XM comes in right after that on my list of important things to do …..
Are there plans to come out with a 10mm version of this gun?
Its kinda annoying that manufacturers are putting out all this new gizmos and gadgets, yet they can’t fill the coffers with current existing product. Seriously, it would really be nice for manufacturers to consider R and D non-essential and re-purpose efforts on refilling existing products for people to purchase. Gun buying is through the roof, yet many are forced to sell off brand, back stock, and other relatively unknown product. Besides, how many more ways can you polish the same method of sending a round down range?
