This year at the Industry Day at the Range, Bul Armory was showing off their newest addition to the SAS II Saw series. The latest Saw, the 5.7, is a double-stack long slide 1911 for competition shooting.
The new model is the SAS II Saw 5.7 with an extended 5.7-inch barrel. One standout feature is that the front sight and slide extension is mounted to the barrel, not the slide. These setups have a real accuracy advantage over conventional slide-mounted sights. The slide extension acts as a weight to curb muzzle flip, too.
Like the other Saw-series guns, the 5.7 is built on a stainless steel chassis with a polymer grip. The frame has a full-length, full-width dust cover to put even more weight toward the muzzle.
Another recoil-mitigating touch is that the SAS II Saw 5.7 uses a Commander-length slide and recoil assembly. This reduces the mass of the reciprocating material resulting in even less felt recoil. That weight reduction can also help when shooting lightened race gun loads.
Other game-gun features include an extended magazine release lever, ambidextrous, shielded thumb safeties and a skeletonized adjustable trigger and hammer. The factory trigger is set with a very light 2.5-3-pound pull so it’s ready to shoot without tuning.
It comes standard with a front fiber optic sight and adjustable rear target sight. Like other Saw-series pistols, the 5.7 has very aggressive forward and rear slide serrations as well as topstrap serrations to reduce glare.
The SAS II Saw 5.7 grip is designed to be more ergonomic than a typical double-stack 1911. It sports a deeply undercut trigger guard to make the grip feel smaller in the hand. It also has a very large magazine well for fast reloads.
The SAS II Saw 5.7 will most likely be offered in 9mm Luger, .40 S&W, 9x21mm and 9x23mm for European and other markets.
Bul is a popular builder for the international pistol competition market. When these become available the prices will be up there, but for someone looking for what is essentially an out-of-the-box custom handgun, their money is well-spent here.

I just read a review on the Ruger 5.7. They say it’s half the price as the FN 57 and just as reliable and more ergonomic. The ammo is still expensive with a small selection of ammo manufacturers. I read what another commentator said a .22 WMR achieves similar ballistic results.
Waiting on mine to make it to America. It will be a 40cal model.
For those who did not read the article. The 5.7 in the name referred to the barrel length. It’s available in calibers 9x 19, 9 x 21, 9 x 21 mm and .40 S&W. It’s a “race gun” for target shooting. It’s not in caliber 5.7 mm which is a shame as we really need more interest in this caliber. New guns are always welcome, look at the endless copies of the Colt 1911, or the CZ75 or the Glock..maybe someone will do it better. I welcome this new pistol , we all should.

You didn’t even watch the video he’s clearly shooting 9mm and the article clearly states what they’re are chambered for why do you subscribe to a website just to knock everything they say.

I believe this article is short on info. Premature, to say the least. The pistol seems interesting, but how would I know.
