M4Pro TAC Out of the Box
Straight from the factory, the Weltool W4Pro TAC comes equipped with a rechargeable 21700 Li-ion Battery, Type-C charging cable, stainless steel pocket clip, and a Weltool patch.
User-Friendly Controls
Operating the W4Pro TAC is simple. With a single push button, users can choose from a strobe, low, or constant full power mode. To activate the strobe, half press the button 3 times and hold. Otherwise, a half-press or full click will activate this flashlight.
Battery Performance
Powered by a single large 21700 Li-ion battery, the W4Pro delivers impressive performance, with a maximum of 4 hours at its lowest intensity. When set to high, users will get about 75 minutes of run time. While there is no charging port on the flashlight, the included Weltool UB21-50 battery has a charging port built into itself.
Impressive Throw
With a maximum output of 568 lumens and a throw of 3712 yards, the W4Pro TAC shines bright. Its narrow beam pattern proves effective at illuminating objects far far away. There is nearly 0 spill, so this is not a great flashlight for maintaining a wide field of view. However, I had no problem illuminating a cow at nearly 900 yards away as seen in the picture below.
While I don’t know where Weltool gets its advertised 3712 yards of throw from, I can say you get useable light out to about half that distance. The W4Pro TAC allowed me to see things like a mile away without anything like binoculars or spotting scopes.
Size of the W4Pro TAC
In terms of spotlights, the W4Pro TAC is quite small. However, it remains slightly too large to comfortably carry in your pocket. The body diameter is 1 inch, the length is about 7.8 inches, but the head diameter is 2.4 inches. This keeps it from fitting in most pants pockets. Yet it remains comfortable in my hand for carrying around and weighs in at just under 12 ounces.
Aftermarket Accessories for the W4Pro TAC
Weltool makes a diffusing filter for the W4Pro TAC that is a solid upgrade. It currently costs about $6, and it slides on the end of the flashlight. This allows users to choose from having a crazy throw, to popping the cap closed and having a lot of spill for using this as a more typical flashlight. This gives a wide field of view when needed, and I would definitely recommend the diffuser.
Field Testing the W4Pro TAC
Throughout my adventures, the W4Pro never failed to impress. Whether shining it at the stars as a lightsaber or checking on cattle, its ridiculous throw proved invaluable. This is a purpose-built light designed for long-distance identification. While I have only had it for around a month, the housing feels rugged and the light has held up without issue.
