Maintenance and cleaning of one’s firearms are arguably some of the least talked about aspects of gun ownership.  That said, they’re critically important, especially if you want your firearm to live a long and healthy life and to function when it’s needed most.  Besides, a clean gun is a happy gun.  A properly lubricated gun is a happy gun.  A well-maintained gun is a happy gun.

In the video above, courtesy of “Shooter’s Corner,” SSG Michael Howard of the Army Marksmanship Unit discusses the proper disassembly and cleaning techniques for the M-4 Carbine.

This is the fly by version for those who are already familiar with the M4. A noob will be scratching his head. Some close ups of the parts and take down would help them tremendously.

Everyone should watch this short video. Even those of us who “know how to clean a damn gun”. Never too old or experience for a “reminder”.
