Canada Announces First Steps for Banned Firearm ‘Buyback’

2nd Amendment – R2KBA Current Events Police State This Week

Canada’s Minister of Public Safety Marco Mendicino announced Wednesday morning that the federal government is initiating the first steps of its Firearms Buyback Program.

In May 2020, Canada passed new laws against “assault weapons,” banning the purchase and ownership of such weapons. The law identified over 1,500 firearm models to prohibit, including AR-15s, the Ruger Mini-14, and AR-10s. Since then, federal and private stakeholders have been debating and strategizing how to confiscate these guns from Canadian citizens.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Mendicino stated, “We’re dedicated to moving forward with this program as quickly as we can, but we also have to make sure that we get the buyback program right.”

In accordance with the proposed buyback program, current retailers and owners of banned weapons must sell their firearms to the federal government or have them rendered inoperable.

Firearm Buyback Program: Phase One

Step one of the government’s Buyback Program focuses on the removal of the current stock of banned weapons from Canadian retailers. Mendicino announced Wednesday that the government allocated $700,000 and is working with the Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association (CSAAA) to implement the first phase of the buyback.

“This is a significant milestone,” Mendicino claimed. Of note, Mendicino explained that roughly 11,000 assault-style firearms have been identified thus far.

CSAAA Involvement

The CSAAA allegedly agreed to help identify the number and types of banned firearms that are currently stocked by businesses to streamline the program. The goal of the CSAAA in this process is to ensure sufficient representation for Canadian sportsmen as the program comes to fruition.

Further, statements from the CSAAA show mixed feelings about their involvement in the buyback.

Wes Winkle, president of the CSAAA, took to Twitter to announce that the organization endeavors to make sure retailers “are informed of their options and receive full compensation.”

Additionally, the organization made it clear that they are “vehemently opposed” to the ban on firearms.

In an interview with CBC News Network’s “Power & Politics,” Winkle said that the Association is reluctantly partnered with the government. Further, Winkle claimed that he estimates there are well over 11,000 firearms that will need to be bought and the cost will be in the billions of dollars.

Additionally, a Twitter post indicates that the CSAAA has no idea where the 11,000 number was derived from.

Further, Winkle stated, “This is the one thing that’s a little bit puzzling about the timing of the announcement is that there really is no budgetary allocation yet for this buyback and there’s also no real path forward as to the process.”

Firearm Buyback Program: Phase Two

The second step of the Buyback Program entails taking these banned firearms out of the hands of their owners. Thus far, no arrangements have been made for the initiation of this part of the buyback.

However, CSAAA has been clear that they will not have a hand in the removal of firearms from Canadian households.

Although nothing is currently in place, Mendicino stated “We’re going to do everything that we can to launch this program.”

Currently, owners of banned firearms are in an amnesty period which is set to end in October of this year.

Critics of the Firearm Buyback

There are several critics of the program including the CSAAA as well as Conservatives in the government.

Significantly, the CSAAA openly expresses its skepticism regarding the new laws’ effectiveness in reducing crime within the country. The organization has made numerous statements and responses questioning the buyback’s efficacy and explaining its assistance to the government.

Additionally, Raquel Dancho, a Conservative member of Parliament, responded to Mendicino stating, “[I’m] very disappointed with today’s announcement because not one single gun will be taken off the streets.”

Conservatives have consistently argued that strengthening law enforcement is a more effective solution for reducing crime in the country.

Recently, Dancho also retorted, “We know that tens of millions of dollars will be spent on this while our police are being starved of resources and criminals are running rampant on our streets. So, very disappointing in that regard.”

What a bunch of nonsense in Canada.

This government gun banning scheme started when a criminal, dressed as a policeman using stolen handguns shot and killed people in Canada.

What that has to do with semi auto rifles is beyond me.

So the dictator wants to ban firearms claiming this will stop crazies and crime. How?

Do you know when the first street lights came out that the politicians said it would stop crime.

So Canada’s dictator wants to ban all semi auto rifles, ban lever action rifles that hold over 10 rounds, and ban “assault rifles” that are too powerful like the 458 Win. Mag. And 460 Weatherby
I doubt anyone has ever used a 460 Weatherby Mk5. bolt action rifle in a crime with it’s 100 pounds of recoil!

In the USA, gun banning groups and gun banning politicians are watching what they do in Canada so they can copy it in the USA.

The gun banning politicians lay in bed at night, masterbating and thinking of ways to ban firearms.

Maybe if these big city mayors would stop listening to a bunch of loud mouth protesters, rioters, looters, criminals and arsonist, and stopped trying to defund- abolish the police, and allowed the police to go out and arrest these criminals and put them in prison for long sentences, then the crime rate would go down. It’s as simple as that.

Articles have pointed out that half of all shootings are ” gang related”.
Someone looked at someone the wrong way, someone ” flashed’ gang signs, gang members in a rival neighborhood, someone looked at a gangs members girlfriend.

In crazyformia, shoplifters walk into clothing stores in broad daylight, grab arm fulls of clothes off the racks and walk out to a waiting car and drive off. No one does anything to stop them except to film it on their cell phones and post it on YouTube.

In NYC, the prosecutor said he won’t charge any bl***s with shoplifting, stealing, mugging and robbery, as they are poor and need money to live on. Huh??

    Crime will only get worst.

The administration has had sections of the border wall taken down and sold off for scrap.
This allows the cartels, M13 gang members, M18 gang members, felons, murderes terrorists spies criminals and arsonist and prostitutes to cross the border and the administration welcomes them and the crime that they bring.

The Central American countries and South America countries are emptying out their jails and prisons and sending thousands of criminals and felons to America and the administration welcomes them and the crime that they bring.

Home invasions are skyrocketed in America.
The home invasions criminals will kick in your from door, ransack your home, rape your daughter and wife, If you can’t have a gun to protect your family, what are you going to do? Cry?

These gun banning groups are run and funded by Michael Bloomberg, George Soros and the Chinese government.

China has gone to the UN council and demanding that all guns be banned in America.

In China, citizens are not allowed to own firearms.
Only the police, military and politicians can have firearms. How else can they control a population of over 1.3 billion people?

Did you know the Chinese government and Saudi Arabia are buying up American farmland and ranch land?
They go to land auctions and have unlimited amounts of money to purchase farms beating out our American farmers.

Support and join pro gun groups!
Don’t allow the evil, far leftist, Satan worshipping power crazed politicians to ban and confiscate our guns.

Buy more guns, ammo, magazines now before it’s too late!

“So far”…..only $700,000 has been allocated for this program….and “so far”, 11,000 offending assault rifles are known by the govt to exist. So…. “so far”……each gun payment is $63 …..let’s see how this is going to work.

M.Moore made a video where he theorized that the violence in the US had a correlation between the military industrial complex, Chaleton Heston, Dick Clark, the NRA, welfate reform and the criminal use of firearms. Moore pointed to the lower crime rates in Canada as supporting data for his convoluted theory.

Later Moore appeated appead in a video “Drugging Our Children” where Moore seemed to start to understand the harm BIG Pharma was doing to the mental health of the US particularly children. Not much as reaching the air waves from Moore any more. His theory that Candians are more trustworthy with firearms is no longer shared by the lefties in Canada. At the very least, Moore should admit that his anti 2A videos were total fallacies and Canadians are being targetted with an ominous firearm government confiscation.

Unfortunately , Canada doesn’t have the same
form of government as We do . They may be at
the mercy of said representative legislators .
This should be an object lesson to us here . As
well as a reminder to read and understand our
Constitution and Bill of Rights .

I need something cleared up. How the hell can you “buy back” something you did not own in the first place? Canadian’s wake the fuck up! This is GUN CONFISCATION. PARA BELLUM – THE FIGHT BEGINS SHOOT THEM WHEN THEY COME TO YOUR DOOR.

  • Mark N. April 28, 2023, 1:33 am

At an average price of $1100 (probably a low estimate averaging low end and higher end AR 15s) that $700,000 will only get them 600 or so rifles. So either retailers are going to get stiffed (a distinct possibility) or the program as now designed is sure to fail.

Hey Canada I’m willing to help out….you can send me a few to get them out of our country!

That’s a kind offer to hold on to those assault weapons until Brandon lets go of them. I have a feeling these headlines might pop up over in America too in the next 18 months. Biden has a pen and a phone.

first i need to correct my post should read your country ( getting used to a different keyboard here)
now I suspect that gun control isn’t a priority right now since it would be a problem with regards to the criminals. He needs them to push agendas, create tax dollars, create jobs, and terrorize voters to vote for him! Plus there is a bit of an over population problem rearing it’s ugly head.
