A would-be robber was fatally shot by a law-abiding citizen with a valid concealed carry permit this past Friday at a barbershop in Milwaukee, local media reports.

The suspect walked into Level Up Barber Shop and Auto Body Repair around 12:30 p.m., pretending to be  interested in getting a haircut.

“He asked some questions about how much a haircut costs, then went into the bathroom to put his mask on and get his gun ready or whatever,” explained the co-owner of the store, who asked only to be identified as “Ty.”

Holding the patrons at gunpoint, the robber began patting down customers when one of them drew his sidearm and fired at the suspect, killing him.

“One of the customers acted in self-defense. He had his (concealed-carry permit), a registered firearm, and unfortunately killed the robber,” Ty said.

Police did not initially release the name of the slain robber.  The armed patron who thwarted the robbery was questioned by police.  It doesn’t appear he’ll face any charges.

Meanwhile, Ty, who also has a concealed-carry permit, bemoaned the violence in the city.

“The crime rate is so high. It’s like nobody wants to work for an honest living anymore,” Ty said.
