Women of the #MeToo Movement Should Consider Gun Ownership Says Rape Survivor

Rape survivor Savannah Lindquist believes the #MeToo movement goes hand-in-hand with a woman’s right to self-defense.

The #MeToo movement represents a sorta reckoning for creeps, stalkers, and rapists. No longer are women going to be silent about the abuse they suffered. Offenders will be outed. Publicly shamed. And, hopefully, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

This is good.  Dirtbags need to face the fire and be held accountable for their crimes.  But if there is a problem with the #MeToo movement is that it works retroactively.  After the fact.  There is no plan of action for women who face violence in the moment.

Rape survivor Savannah Lindquist believes that should change.  She would like gun ownership to be a part of the #MeToo discussion.

“I think the #MeToo movement and the movement for women’s right to self defense or really anyone’s right to self defense, they sort of go hand-in-hand,” Lindquist told Circa.

“It’s frustrating, but it sometimes feels like when you’re pro-Second Amendment that your story doesn’t matter as much,” she continued.

Lindquist, who was raped while attending Temple University in Philadelphia, said that no one should be forced to carry a gun but it should be an option for those women interested in exercising their 2A rights.

“Regardless of the reason why, I think it’s important that we have that choice because it seems like right now the #MeToo movement is all about just having women’s autonomy and being able to make these decisions and say, ‘This is what happened to me, but I’m gonna get through this, and I’m strong, and I know who I am,’ and that sort of understanding, but it seems sort of like it’s stopping there, that everyone is like … The award show that was a few nights ago, we saw people wearing the Time’s Up pins. It’s like, ‘Okay, well that’s great, but what are you doing?’ You’re not doing anything to actually fix the problem, and that’s sort of what I’m trying to do here,” Lindquist explained.

Makes sense.  As the best way to avoid violence is being fully prepared to confront it. Hopefully, more women of the #MeToo movement at least listen to what Ms. Lindquist has to say.

I wish you luck Ms Lindquist. My fiancee is a rape victim from her younger years and has feared guns all her life, until me. I was able to teach her that a gun is a tool. And by exposing her to tools, she was able to take back the power she gave those tools over her. She’s now a 2A supporter and carries a firearm. She catches flak all the time for exercising her 2A right and refusing to be a victim again. One woman had even told her that she was a horrible rape victim for resigning to carrying for protection. #metoo needs a split for women that carry, once it gains ground it might help open up more eyes instead of dividing the current movement.

Short story in reference to Savannah’s plight; A petite young woman in her early twenties we’ll call Bree, a daughter of a friend pulled into a gas station in the middle of the afternoon. She did not look around to be sure it was safe when she got out of her car and started pumping gas. A black man came out from behind the pump grabbed her by the pants and started to force her into her car. As it would happen that particular day Bree had her purse hanging on her free hand arm. As this guy was forcing her into her car she was able to reach into her purse and pull out her Taser. She Tased him until he hit the ground and continued to Tase him until he was incapacitated and pissed his pants. He was arrested and she went home safe.
We all know that today Crime is everywhere in our nation and our world! Roughly 1.2 million assaults happen annually in the U.S., over 90,000 are rapes, over 327,000 are robberies. Nearly “everyone” will be the victim of a personal theft at least once, and 87 percent will be personal theft victims three or more times. 47% of home robberies the criminals are armed with a lethal weapon.
Take heed, In our country every citizen has 2nd amendment rights and you’re setting yourself up to fail if you do not exercise those rights. If you live in a No Gun Zone city you have the option to move if politicians impair or remove your 2A rights. You also have the right to vote them out of office. Get active, get trained, Arm yourselves male or female and keep training. Protect yourself first with whatever weapon you can affectively use in a personal defense situation if and when it occurs. Criminals and offenders do not tell you they are getting ready to assault you, they choose to attack from a position of surprise so things happen very fast. If you are trained your immediate response is going to happen from how you trained and it will be an auto reaction. People who choose not to protect themselves are living in denial and we the trained refer to these people as “Sheeple” waiting for slaughter. They have no clue so don’t be the next unprepared victim. Don’t be a Sheeple, someone you know is trained with weapons and self defense, call them today and ask how you can get trained.. If the worst blindsides you, fight for your life, don’t stop, don’t give up!

I beleive every Woman has the right to befend herself against any agression from brainless skum people that want to hurt them and take away there rights. Any woman that wants to carry a gun for her own protection should buy a gun and train with it so they will be ready for any attack from skum bags in this country. Took many men rape woman because they are weaker then men. Everyone should be able to carry there gun any place in this country once they have a CCW or CCL in any state. The license should all be good for 5 years before they are renewed again. Here in Commfornia it is good for only 2 years and the cost is too high. And the Sheriff calls the shots if he is Pro gun that you get a CCW. Most large County here in Commfornia you have no chance of getting a CCW. Money talks to buy your CCW. We have a law makers and a Governer that hate gun loving people and want to stop honest citizen from having guns. Then want to register all guns in this Commfornis state stop people from owing guns.

Problem is most of these attacks occur in places wher gun ownership is almost impossible!I am sure that it happens where gun ownership is easier but in the Classes I attended there were as many women as men.Dirty old men beware.
