At SHOT Show 2020, Benelli has revealed a bolt-action rifle that further expands their offerings. This new rifle is the Lupo Bolt-Action. The LUPO’s namesake stems from Benelli’s Italian background and means “Wolf” in English. Appropriately named, the LUPO will be the ultimate killer out in the field.

The Lupo is a new take at the classic hunting rifle design with its modular chassis style.

The LUPO is designed to be great, starting from the bottom up. It is a modular chassis style hunting rifle. It is modular because it contains aspects of a typical hunting stock as well as a 7075 T6 Aluminum chassis that supports the action; and I assume that in the future, you can customize this configuration with other features that are soon to be released.

The LUPO has an aluminum chassis that is the foundation for accuracy.

Being a high-end factory rifle, the LUPO has a free-floating barrel, barrel extension system that ensures perfect headspacing, cut-rifled & cryo-treated barrel, 5/8×24 threaded muzzle, 5 round detachable mag, adjustable LOP, Drop, and Cast, Progressive Comfort Recoil Pad, Comb-Tech cheekpiece and I could go on!

The LUPO is incredibly smooth to operate. This is thanks to a fluted, chrome-plated bolt design. The fluting in the back of the bolt allows the bullets in the magazine to sit up higher into the action. This not only reduces drag, making the bolt smoother to operate but also allows you to fit more bullets in the magazine while maintaining a low-profile design. The bolt is 3 lugged, making the bolt throw 60 degrees and keeping your knuckles away from your optic when operating it.

The 3-lug design of the bolt gives it a 60 degree bolt throw.

The other thing I want to specifically address: the trigger. The trigger has a 2-4 pound adjustable pull-weight. This is a pretty standard pull-weight for a hunting rifle. However, I would go as far as to say that the LUPO has the best trigger-pull that I have ever felt of any factory-produced rifle/trigger combo. It had absolutely no creep, it broke extremely crisp, and there was no takeup or overtravel.

The LUPO will be available for purchase around July 1st, so keep your eyes peeled. It can be found anywhere that you can find a Benelli shotgun.

Interesting that such an avant-garde rifle is only chambered for old-guy cartridges.

Congratulations to Benelli for making absolutely, unquestionably, without a doubt, the UGLIST rifle available on the open market today. I know, to some folks performance is everything but, as far as I’m concerned, there is a limit, and Benelli has passed that line. UGLY! UGLY! UGLY!
